The lamps used in tanning beds for facial tanning emit high levels of UVC, as well as very cancerous and dangerous part of the uv spectrum, that we do not even get exposed to out doors!!!!!!!The filter glass is to protect you from both the high uvc as well as the very high uvb these lamps produce. If the filter glass that filters the dangerous uvc rays as well as the extreme burning uvb rays from facial tanning lamps from damaging your face is not maintained properly. The government is not checking for this problem at this time in tanning salons. You need to be proactive and look out for your own health!I would consider not using any tanning unit that uses these high pressure facial lamps.Unless you can be sure the salon you tan at has maintained the filters and can show you documentation as to proper filters used as well as a maintenance list, as well a government notice that the salon has been inspected and the filters are correct for each tanning bed.

High amounts of uvc? What is high Chipp? Again I have to ask you for some numbers you seem to know a lot about this for someone who has never even seen anything other than a standup. The truth is yes high presure lamps emit some uvc that is primarily blocked by the bulb itself. What is left is blocked out by 1 or 2 filter glasses depending on the bed. The uvb is blocked out as well leaving you with essentially uva and 1-3% uvb depending on many factors including wattage of lamp and filter glass. Yes the filter glass must be maintained and yes it does take owners with at least a 6th grade education to do this. Which is why Chippp we are glad your stickin with standups.

I belive Chipp some were on this board you said the " Goverment is not your mother" well People who take the time and choose a well run professional salon know that the owner and staff maintain and verify the statis of all there beds and booths. On the other hand we know some operators of stand up only salons give you a paper napkin and say good luck.

The filter glass used with facial tanning lamps and in high pressure beds to protect you from harmful uvc and excessive uvb rays. You surely are not going to argue with that FACT!Come on!OK NOW, YOU IMPLY THAT THE FILTER REALLY Doesn't DO MUCH AT ALL.THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST TAKE THEM OUT AND HEAVE THEM. YOU FEEL THEY SERVER VERY LITTLE PURPOSE.good to see filter glass is a non issue or a joke to you.I PITY YOUR CLIENTS.

The only thing that is a joke to me is you Chippp. The filter glass does serve a purpose that is why as I stated you must know your equipment and how it operates you evidently have no idea do you ? Do you have any equipment with filter glass? Do you know percentages of uva-uvb-uvc in the lamps? Come on Chippppp I've ask you all day to back up your statements with facts. Can you do that?

I pity the fool!! Everyone should know UVC stays in the lamp. Where do you get your information Chippp? Please share. Maybe all the research I've done on lamps is wrong. If you can show otherwise I'm willing to believe differant then I've learned about the subject.
