Rep Power: 0 | I own a small salon on campus at a large university. I have been given the opportunity this summer to build a new salon which will be about 5 times as large as the one I'm in now. I want to add tanning to our services. The director of the student union where I am located has twice brought up the idea of my adding tanning, and twice the un-educated JERKS of the student health center have said "I don't think it's a good idea" Since I rent from the University, they do have a say so in the matter. I've already got a monopoly in the salon going for hair, just think if I added tanning. I'm also going to add 2 nail techs. How the heck am I going to persuade these slack-jawed red-necks that this will be a safe, money-making opportunity for all involved. I could make a fortune! Any ideas?? I know I'm going to have to debunk their beliefs in the old urban legends of tanning, but I want an iron clad proposal for them. HELP! Thanks! |

BMORE,I graduated from Miss. State in 1986! I would first find the person that can make the decision and get a meeting with them. Be armed with factual information! I would recommend you visit www.smarttan.com They provide tons of factual information regarding the benefits of moderate tanning. Back issues of this magazine are a good resource for this.Call Joe Levy at Smart Tan and speak to him personally! 1 - (800) 652-3269 If you not not a member I would recommend that you join.Michael | |

I understand the dealing with red necks...thinking about the old myths and all that...I deal with them everyday...but you gotta love them You just have to give them the facts and Chunn was right Smart Tan is the first place to start! Is there any other salons near campus? If not or even if there is...that would be a perfect place to have one!!!GOOD LUCK and let us know how it goes!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | Thanks for the reply. Yes, there is a salon near campus, and they have 4000 clients in their computer(a friend of mine works there, but she's moving soon, so she gave me the info.) I know at least 70% of them are college students. I already own a hair salon, and we do most all the students, I just hate to see them leave campus for their tanning needs. I just think it's a good opportunity. I spoke to a rep from Tan America, and she is helping me put together an iron clad proposal. She was very nice and is sending me smart tan information about tanning facts and fiction to help me out. She also offered to do a phone conference with the board to answer any of their questions. So I'm on the right track. Thanks! |
