Well, it didn’t take long!Many of you question if my new web bulletin board will have any effect. It didn’t take long for one of our principle concepts to be copied, ripped off, and basically stolen.At 9:49AM on 10/24/00 - Suntanning.Com started the “Hall of Flames” an identical copy of the Trash Bin forum that WWW.TanLovers.Com has under development.Bob English and I, launched Tanlovers.com weeks early in order to provide a friend of this industry a place to have her Sunday Night Chat. We did this as a service for the industry, with a few details of what our board would be like, just to have you rip off our ideas.Lonn, I have never personally attacked you and have been posting on your board but this is low. I hope your copy of my idea does well because every post on it will validate my ideas that will drive my new website! What is next Lonn, Only Registered Users? TanLovers was started to be a online version of Sun Wellness, A place for tanners to learn about indoor tanning. I joined this effort with my imput to be trying to teach tanners directly why indoor tanning products work, how to use tanning products and other aspects of indoor tanning products . I believe that far too many tanners do not understand the benefits of indoor tanning products so they do not use them or enough of them to be effective. If I could help get more tanners using indoor tanning products every salon would benefit. I wanted to do this because I do support salon owners 100% whether they are buying my products or not.Last week, when Shari Jones was going to end up without a place to have her chat, Bob and I had an idea to try to help her. Lets make TanLovers, a commercial indoor tanning Chat/Bulletin Board. We brainstormed several ideas, one of which as the ” Trash Bin”.When Lonn launched his new section, I felt it was a copy of our idea. Instead of being hurt or feeling cheat, I should have felt proud because our ideas had been validated.I apologies to Lonn for the post I made and my feelings. This site was not to be a competitor to TanToday.com but a starting place for posters in an atmosphere of total registration so their would be not unregistered personal attacks. Our goal was to build Internet participation not divide the participation already occurring. I believe that in the next few years Internet boards will become a critical method for manufacturers to communicate 1 to 1 with their customers. I believe that TanToday has been a big reason for the surge in sales for Soakin’ Up The Rays (R) and my private label products. For the first time, my policies and practices of supporting salon owners can be demonstrated to a larger audience of tanning salon owners.I thank Bruce for the opportunity I have to post my views on TanToday. I would never do anything to hurt someone who has helped me so much. The attacks on my actions regarding Tanlovers can be justified but the attacks on the quality of my products and my desire to support salon owners are totally inaccurate. I have always made and will continue to make premium quality indoor tanning products for my customers. For now, the bulletin board will come down, TanLovers will remain just as a place for Shari’s Chat only.
