Rep Power: 0 | Don,INVALUABLE! You are the SIMPLY THE BEST! Truly!I am thinking. Why don't you start your own "institute" (of sorts) at the TSO website (in message board format) and discuss all of these salon owner issues and grey areas for all of us to learn and grow from. ?I do not think that this would conflict with any allegiances you feel you may have, in fact, I believe it will help us all to better *focus* and enhance this industry's overall credibility. Of all the folks I have watched in this industry, I believe that it is only an indivual like you that could lead us into a more professional arena of knowledge, support and prosperity. And nobody deserves to lead this movement any more than you. Don, why don't you do this??? Ok, now I am really riled up while I am typing this and pondering the possibilities. DON SMITH, PLEASE, SERIOUSLY CONSIDER DOING THIS!!!!! THE TIME FOR CHANGE AND TRUE LEADERSHIP IS NOW FELLOW SALON OWNERS!! CAN I GET A WITNESS??!! CAN WE HAVE AN AMEN!! |

Rep Power: 26 | Dave D:Are you a mind reader?I will meet at 2:00 pm today with the "guru" who developed our website (www.naatso.org) and discuss ways we can make it more valuable to tanning salon owners. (I have been too busy with the FDA meetings, the Chicago trade show and opening our new tanning salon to give our website the attention it deserves!) It's purpose, we believe, is to dissiminate information to tanning salon owners and, therefore, it will not be an "open" forum. There will be some "mini-seminars" much like we are trying to do on this site regarding lamps and there will be a place to "Ask TSO" about products, problems, questions, etc.I have tried, to this point, to answer questions wherever they have been asked which means that I participate on all three forums. The reason that I have had the first mini-seminar on this forum is because of my profound respect for Michael Chunn. While we may not be aligned politically (he remains active with the Smart Tan Advisory Panel) He is one of the finest and most ethical and moral individuals we are priviledged to have in the indoor tanning industry. My policy is changing because I am becomming more and more concerned about the move from "interesting controversy" into the realm of what I perceive as "mean spiritedness" by another site. How does the dissemination of hurtful words about an individual or company help this wonderful industry of ours? I believe that we should be working together to increase the number of tanners, not "bashing" and "trashing" each other! Therefore my goal is to make our website become known as THE unbiased information source for the indoor tanning industry. We will, therefore, let the other sites provide information, entertainment and controversy.I'm even considering having a Sunday night chat but what I am thinking about is limiting it to a single topic each week. If you are interested in the topic you could "check in" and if you are not, you would skip us that week. There would also be a "guest" each week who would provide us with information regarding his/her product or company. I think it would be interesting to "feature" tanning salon owners who have come up with great ideas that could help the rest of us. I would appreciate the opinion of those of you who are reading this post about the idea of a "civil" Sunday evening chat like I have described above.Hope this information about our "sea change" clarifies this matter, Dave. Thank you for your kind comments.DonP.S. The latest "installment" about the importance of skin typing (subtyping) is posted in the lamp section. |
