Rep Power: 0 | Just wanted to get everyones thoughts and expertise on this subject....I recently had back surgery and wanted to know the "rule of thumb" about tanning the scar...Is there a certain amount of time I should wait? Should I cover it? What type of results will I have if I don't cover it?Any advise would be greatly appreciated! |

Rep Power: 23 | I had surgery on my ankle in February. My cast was removed in April. I resumed tanning almost immediately. I put cocoa butter on the scars in the morning after I shower and at night before going to bed. When I tan, I put a 4spf lotion on the scars themselves and a regular lotion everywhere else. I now tan once a week to maintain and my scars have almost completely blended in. Only myself and my family know that they are their. My members have never noticed (and I always wear shorts and sandels in the salon). Lots of moisturizing. |

Rep Power: 0 | My daughter has a trach tube scar, and a scar from breastbone to pubic bone because of a car accident (caused by a blankety blank drunk driver). For the first year and a half we covered all scars VERY carefully - dotting the staple marks and using a toothpick to cover the abdomen scar with that 30 spf California Tan stuff. Being a latina, she tans beautifully and the scars are almost invisible. We cocoa buttered up the wazoo as well...that advise came from a plastic surgeons nurse. Good luck. |

Rep Power: 0 | Well, it has been 4 months since my surgery, my tanning time is limited to about twice a week maybe even fewer for now and my scar has faded and not gotten darker or more course. I have put vitamin E and cocoa butter on it faithfully. That has seemed to do the trick. Even when I do tan the scar does not seem to get pinkish or dark. Great news, huh? Didn't think I would be very good advertisement for my salons walking around looking like casper. |
