Floatation Tanks

I hadn't heard of these until one of my regular tanners was telling me about it after her visit up there today. She goes to a place in West Des Moines called Fadeaway Floation. She tells me the place is always busy. She LOVES it and has been very curious to go try it. They just added a Therasauna (which I'm adding this November). Prices are very reasonable. You can visit their website--google their name if you want to see what I'm talking about. I like this idea much more then the hydration station, etc.

Re: Floatation Tanks

It has becoming a big trend here in California as well. I was thinking about it too. Which brand did you look into ?

Re: Floatation Tanks

Like deja vu all over again. Had 2 floatation tanks in my 1st salon in 1986. 800 pounds of Epsom salt per tank and weekly water sampling by the local health department. Loved the sensory deprivation of "floating" experience, but hard to get clients to do it on a regular basis.

nvstan-I didn't do it myself, a friend was telling me about it so I checked out their website. Sounds kinda cool. Going to make an appointment for myself and try it out. I'm so sure getting a Therasauna in the fall. Not sure I can afford the floatation tank, but haven't priced them yet either.

Another expensive fade that will not have appreciable result in a tanning salon.

Any new service takes a substantial number of users to make it profitable. It is one of those services that some may try out of curiosity but will not hold interest.

Re: Floatation Tanks

I have no intentions of installing one of them, but they are very interesting and was just wondering if anyone on here had them. By the time you add all the expenses up to get one its way out of my arena. I am going to go next try it out next week.

Re: Floatation Tanks

Saw where Steph Curry and some of the other Warriors use these. Wonder what the drowning risk/liability is.

Re: Floatation Tanks

From the way it sounds it is almost impossible to drown because of the 850 lbs. of Epson salt forcing you to float.
