You made a great point; the margins are NOT what they used to be. Normally that happens in a life cycle of a product when competition comes into a capitalistic free market. But in the case of the Tanning industry, prices are being driven, not by increased competition; they are being driven DOWN by over supply.

The sad truth is that no matter how hard we try, each year there is more supply of tanning services than there is demand for it.

For our salon we do the same! Buy a $100 or so bottle of lotion you get 3 of HP Exotic stand ups and 3 of our Sharks. And it trickles down from there. We see a huge response with that, some people just come in buy a $100 or so bottle of lotion just to get the upgrades! Though our second location we don't do to great, because the same people work out there and don't really sell... so we will be changing up the scheduling to get some of our good sellers out there.
