Any chance Tan Tax will get Axed? - tanTALK

With GOP taking control of Senate and Congress and the talk of repealing some of Obamacare , Anyone think there is a chance the Tan tax will be eliminated? Or is it here to stay?

Thoughts?

There is a solid opportunity to repeal the tan tax as a part of revising Obamacare. They are already talking about ending the medical device tax which also is part of Obamacare. No justifiable reason to end one and not the other. Except that the medical device industry is lining the pockets of every senator and congressman.

The other aspect that we need to voice up about is the financial damage that has been done to tanning salon owners and their employees by a tax that has raised very little net revenue. Here's a good read that touches on it:

^^^The Tan Tax has had hardly any affect of financial damage to salon owners. It's simply a non-issue, and no big deal. Don't blame the tax for the demise of this industry, and no it won't be repelled.

8,000 salons closed since the tan tax started. Did they all win the lottery?

Losing the tan tax would be the single greatest thing that could happen to this industry.

Tan Tax hasn't affected me however It is unfair and unjust and I will do my part in trying to push our elected leaders to repeal it. I believe the 8,000 salons that closed might have done so because they weren't on the up and up to begin with in regards to the IRS and they knew that a microscope was likely to be placed over a large portion of the industry and instead of possibly being caught or audited "which is enough alone to cause a heart attack" They said screw it let's sell the equipment and get into something else. Same thing we would all do if we were in their shoes.

What were your revenues pre-tan tax vs. post-tan tax?
