Is that directed at me?

I hope not..you know NOTHING about me..

I have raised prices in every business I own (4 at last count), and all have been humming along nicely for 30+ years.

Re: Any chance Tan Tax will get Axed?

The question should not be, can you raise prices; prices must naturally rise when the cost of living does. The question should be are we pricing most of the public out of the tanning business?

The answer to that question is undoubtedly yes. Can the high end shops in the upscale areas of the country raise prices? Sure. But this areas represent 20% of this country's population and 90% of the contributors on this site.

You want evidence? Just look at the top growing tanning franchises in the country today. Zoom Tan, Sun tan city, and Planet fitness, all work on LOW cost models, not high priced models. Those on the high end of the pricing model are sending the general public running for the discounters. Will a few of them find a niche? Sure, but that is no industry trend. The trend is low pricing, no gimmick tanning.

The sad truth is that those of us caught in the middle in this business will lose theirs in this pricing turf battle.

You seem convinced you will fail, so why not call it a day and move on to the next adventure?

Sure. 23 years of failure. I am reading the tea leaves, not singing a swan song.

If you can raise pries at will, why not just double them, Tomorrow. Awe heck, lets triple them, these stupid consumers out there have plenty of money.
