Black Friday is for beginners try this

An industry wide one day sale. I encourage my girls and challenge them on a weekly basis to create new and exciting sale ideas. One of them broke the mold last month. Here's the concept: on Black Friday and Grey Thursday salons typically have low sales due to the time of year and the fact that most of us that shop that day have a budget and typically spend it at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.... well we have created "PINK WEDNESDAY" I will run a ridiculous sale for the first 5 through the door and then run a BOGO sale on month packages. This gets people to come in for the next couple of months and it has the ability to make busy season start in November. The sale will be the day b4 thanksgiving before customers spend all their money at Walmart and other big places that we can't compete with. What's your take on this?

Great concept if you're not in a college town. Kids are all gone over Thanksgiving, and this town is a ghost town. I think that will work great for you, and I can see why you do so well down there. You have some great ideas, and your sales show it. Keep it up.

So, the first 5 only thru the door get the 2 free months? No strings attached? Just curious why you have to give "free" to clients? I always figured there's other ways to get people back in....rather than free. A new piece of equipment...a remodel of a room....remodel of the bathrooms....new landscaping, new signage, etc.
but I'm sure free works too.

So this year I have remodeled the restrooms, installed 5 new beds, added a room, completely remodeled they lobby with new counters and displays, And changed the lighting inside to name a few upgrades I have made this year. The end result? over $100,000 more in revenue in 2014 than in 2013 along with over 5000 more visits. The issue is getting Season to start earlier. I started my season early this year by running a good special in late Jan early Feb. I expect it to get better this year with Pink Wed. When you say 30% off you're not catching their eye. Our customers are informed for the most part and know what mark up is on our lotions because they see how cheap it is online but still buy from us to ensure they're getting the right thing. So 30% or even 40% off they know thats a deal but are likely to pass it on up. When you see free no matter if it's a stick of gum or tanning you want to take advantage of it! When I go to the gas station and they ask me do you want these kit kat bars? they're buy 2 get one free... I will from time to time say yes knowing **** well they're going to sit in my truck and melt before I eat any of them. But it's an Impulse and Even I who knows sales and marketing like the back of my hand still fall for it.

Now for the free months that I gave away... 5 3 month reg. packages valued at $90. My trained staff will talk each one of those customers into upgrade beds at a minimum of once per week. so 12 weeks at $5 to the next level? $60. 12 weeks at $10 to the highest level? $120. On average each Customer will pay me $30 per month in upgrades which is what I charge for the month to begin with.... On top of that I sold a $100 bottle for them to take advantage of this "Amazing special" and I only paid $25.00 for it...

My Girls can't sell to air and it is my job to get the butts on the acrylic so that's what Pink wed. is expected to do!!!

I like it crosbytan. I do a big promo every year from 8pm-12am every Thanksgiving. :)
I'm tempted to do Wednesday but around here a LOT of people that normally tan go to reunions, bars and grocery stores Wednesday night.
