So you sell packages for less to your existing customers. How does that increase sales? So you have to spend extra money the run ads, and lose money when your existing customers buy your specials....without a lot of new traffic showing up, not a winning strategy. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Close to closing! Any Ideas? This is a little disturbing to see tanning salons making $6, $9 and $30 dollar days. What the **** is going on out there? I understand that once in a month you may have a bad day of around $100 but to have it this bad? That is a sign that either you are not marketing your business or it's quitting time. Your PPA should be approx $20-$24 a person. In slow season i can see it go as low as $18-$19. Anything less than that as a PPA and you are not selling properly and THAT is the problem. Even if you only get 5 customers in a day, you should still make about $100 for the day.

$20 PPA is definitely possible on a day to day average however for a monthly of even yearly average is close to impossible. I only sell $75+ bottles with a few that are $35-$60 and My girls sell extremely well. There are a lot of days where we see $20 ppa but monthly average is always between $11-$15. The industry is stale in most places. A lot of stores are in a rut that they may not get out of. Equipment is paid off but cant replace it due to a retrofit needed or their current beds are always having to be serviced. Cant gain customers due to lack of innovation and equipment changes while the salon down the road just installed 8 new ergolines to put the struggling out of business. Superficial industry... A new bed is only new for a season then its outdated to 60% of our customers. after that you are sure to lose 10-20% interest in that bed per year. especially if there's a chain salon down the road. What's new to you doesn't have to be new to the world. New to you beds can show the customers that their money is going to good use and their investment is being returned to them. They don't notice when a filter glass is replaced or a lamp is replaced unless it was out. Maintenance might keep your beds in tip top shape which is important but it doesn't splash. It doesn't sell tans as well as a new to you piece of equipment does. Just my take on the situation. Parrot Head hang in there After Christmas you should have 4 months of College Beauties coming through the door to give you one **** of a season for a sending off party if you decide to get out of it! | |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Close to closing! Any Ideas? Day to day, anything can happen. I look at weekly and monthly sales and I compare them year over year. Folks need to remember that many salons are operating in communities of 10,000 people or less....in those places, it is very difficult these days to justify even 1- 12 month a year tanning salon. |
