I went into a local pf- Ergoline 350's, Ergoline red light sun angel, Ergoline stand up. Also Hydromassage's and recliner massage chairs.

All in all, formidable competition-fitness and all the above for $22 a month.

Old news Peach..been going on in Atlanta for years..not only PF, but just about every 24/7 gym in the metro area offers tanning. What is so ironic, there seems to be a 24/7 on every corner, in every mall, on every street just like tanning in its hey day.

There is a 24/7 gym near me that has KBL beds...free tanning to gym members, or pay small monthly fee just for tanning...This was all predicted as the new trend/wave years ago...at its peak now. Interesting to see how it all works out.

I find the correlation between salon closings and these gyms offering tanning more than coincidental.

The proliferation of the pf chain is particularly rapid and troublesome for all indies. These are not crappy gyms. You can tell that there is big money and tanning industry connections behind it.

What tanning industry connections behind it? Peach don't go there. Stick with what you know.

The only connection to the tanning industry is that some tanning operators have opened some PF gyms. Even Rick from SunTan City is now opening PF Gyms.

Is this standard tanning equipment for all PF's? We are having one move in across town should we be nervous.. we have a 10 bed salon and 22 bed salon.

Peach, I know where you want to go..the PF/Heartland (supposedly) connection..which is more embellished than factual...but, I'd be more concern with companies like Ergo and KBL supplying top notch equipment...seems the corporate board at these companies have little regard for the 'average salon' that built their business over the years and are now putting their loyalty into the gyms which are adding tanning.

Imagine the world we'd have now if the Ergo/KBL's all said to the gyms, 'sorry, but we only supply our equipment to tanning ONLY businesses'

They can have the nicest beds but if they don't maintain the equipment then they will be in the same boat as most gyms. Pretty bed but can't get a tan in it.
