New Lamps & reducing exposure time

I was wondering if anyone would share with me their procedure on how you explain you will may need to reduce exposure time due to new lamps?

We always talk to each and every customer and alert them we have new lamps and chances of burning are increased and 95% of tanners exposure times are reduced and adjusted accordingly to what we find out from how they did on their next visit. We look at many factors to determine their exposure time and MOST are grateful and understanding of the situation.

BUT...
You know those few that come in to buy a single session and haven't been in the salon for 6 months and they are a skin type 2 and have no color and argue they want to go the full time and think we are trying to cheat them??? How do you handle them? I have let some walk if they can't be sensible and most others I throw out a really low time knowing they
will argue and then meet them in the middle so they feel like they have control...i yi yi

Do you reduce the exposure time by a certain % for a certain period of time?

Thanks

Re: New Lamps & reducing exposure time

Over exposure is a better than, burning, it a nasty work in our business. When someone come in to tan and has a type 2 skin , we tell them you will need a couple of session to get your base tan , 7 MIN to start,3 session , if you can do every other day to build your base tan.then from there they can tan in any bed. We don't want you to over expose your skin the first time , it like being in the sun for few hour and getting home to see you have a overexposure and result with blister and peeling of skin. Now if you get that customer that is not going to listen to you, then yes put there *** in there and let them see what happen, maybe the next time they come in they will listen to you. we can only do so much if that what the customer want then give it to them.
