Do You Charge to down grade

Let say customer buy a unlimited level 6. And want to down grade to another level, do you charge to down grade? The way I see it, if customer, buy a level 6 that what should be using. They are tying up a bed for a customer that purchase that bed. Customer think they can jump around to any unit once they purchase the unlimited level 6 What your view.

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

When you purchase a level in a salon you can tan in that level and anything below it. Our opinion is if you want to pay for level 6 and tan in level 1, go for it. No charge.

I could not think of any possible explanation that you could make to a customer on your process that would allow them to believe you should charge them to downgrade. It just doesn't work.

They pay for the "Ultra", It's that, and anything below it. I've only have 2 level 3 beds, but they are full a lot of the time. My Ultra level 3 package allows then to step down to a level 2 bed, without having to wait. Imagine the uproar, if I told a customer they'd have to pay to downgrade.

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

We do 125-150 a day in busy season, this is why I have to charge to down grade, appointment are days out sometime bed are book as soon as customer come out , make another appointment, knowing that if they walk out they may not likely get that bed for maybe days , have 13 units all book all the time. Yes business is good.

Your issue is because you take appointments. If you take appts, then you can NOT see as many people as if you did walk-ins.

Most salon owners were afraid to make that switch. They THINK it would be chaos without appointments. It isn't. It just frees up all your staff time to NOT have to be taking calls and making appointments. And then customers see - if you come when we are busy, you may have to wait. If you come other times of the day, you may not.

With appointments, you have to book a 'slot' - and can't adjust for people that tan for less than the max time, arrive late, take longer to dress, etc.

Switch from appointments and all your issues will go away. Start July 4 if you are nervous about it....but never switch back when next busy season hits!

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

I do not take appointments. Thank goodness because one of my biggest pet peeves is people who are late. Customers might think being a minute or two late is no big deal but when you're trying to maximize your beds, that one or two minutes can throw off your whole day. Also, people are inconsiderate about calling to cancel appts. I do not want that headache. Plus, I don't want to spend my day on the phone making, changing and canceling appts. Now, with that being said, I have considered making designing a package for the "Ultimate" package where customers can make appts and we'll clean their beds. (right now they clean they own and they don't mind). I would think I could probably price that at $20 over the other packages. Makes it a little higher that those that really want the benfits will pay it but yet I won't have people rushing to purchase it so as not to have everyone making appts. Just a thought.

Oh, when its busy in here, I can get 3 people in each bed non-stop per hour.
