Ok I'm calling BS here. Or fuzzy math; take your pick. If you average just 3 sessions per hour per unit, and you're busy all the time as you say, you'd do 150 tanners in less.than 4 hours.

Silliest thread I've seen here for quite a while.

Also, people are inconsiderate about calling to cancel appts. I do not want that headache. Plus, I don't want to spend my day on the phone making, changing and canceling appts. Now, with that being said, I have considered making designing a package for the "Ultimate" package where customers can make appts and we'll clean their beds. (right now they clean they own and they don't mind). I would think I could probably price that at $20 over the other packages. Makes it a little higher that those that really want the benfits will pay it but yet I won't have people rushing to purchase it so as not to have everyone making appts. Just a thought.

Oh, when its busy in here, I can get 3 people in each bed non-stop per hour.
I'm really surprised that you have customers clean their own beds. I think I have only seen that in gyms or 24 hr tanning.

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

^^^Wisconsin state law states salon personnel must clean and sanitize their tanning equipment. Only the gyms can get away with having customers
clean their own beds. I do agree with Wynwood, it is kind of a silly thread.

I agree, appointments sell you short they are a win for the customer, but not for the salon. If their bed is busy they can either a. wait or b. downgrade for free. or c. pay to upgrade you will be amazed at how many people upgrade they are after all getting to lay in better equipment. The longer you keep taking appts they harder it will be. Yes at first you will hear whining from some, but you might also be suprised at how relieved it makes customers not feeling obligated to make an appointment. Some of my best customers come in on a whim and buy lotion do cocktail tanning just because they no we don't take any appointments on anything it is all walk-ins... Give a couple week notice in the rooms with signage and when some gripe just have your staff prepared to handle the complaints... example its not efficient for the salon, too many people are late, too many cancellations, no shows etc...

When taking appointment we give you a 5 minutes window after that , sorry you are late. Customers have the option to upgrade or down grade at a cost. I am dealing with collage customer if they are late now they will be late for interviews, and life in general, maybe I am helping someone realize that the world does not revolve around them.

I don't even know how to respond with out being a ****. You need to reevaluate your business plan. Its not your job teach lessons to clients unless they're also your children.

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

Wynwood I think you mixed me up with Suncitypembroke. I'm the one who said I can get 3 people per bed per hour.

There was a thread that I read on here last fall that talked about cleaning beds, and out of all the people that commented, only a couple actually had bed cleaners. All others have customers clean. Iowa allows for us to train the customer to clean. We also highly suggest to them to clean before getting in as well.

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

I guess to me it's a customer service thing. The customer is paying for a service and I want them to be waited on, not the other way around. I want them to have the absolute most relaxing experience when say they run from work on their lunch hour, or whatever to pamper themselves, plus get in & out quickly which opens more time with them for sales.

Also, I want my salon to be the absolute cleanest in town and I'm not sure I would trust customers to meet those standards.

But if it works for you, go for it. Diversity is the spice of life.

Re: Do You Charge to down grade

I do not have to revaluate anything , when u make an appointment and r late you will not be able to tan unless the bed is open, certain beds are book all the time ,from 9 am to 8-9 pm , so when u r late you screw it up for everyone else, to you it ok for me, I don't think so.......either come on time or upgrade, down grade. We have customer that come on time and all work out .
