When I owned my cleaning business years ago we never used softener on any of the cleaning rags because of the residue it leaves. Try and clean a mirror with a rag that softener was used on, leaves streaks. When I bought the salon they used softener in the wash... needless to say... no more softener in the salon.

Just put tennis balls in the dryer with the towels, never use fabric softner, as mentioned above the towels will lose absorbancy.

Great idea! Those spiky balls tear em up , but gonna try the tennis balls for sure.
