A question that is being asked on this thread is should you copy PBT or successful chains. Some are saying no because they get tanners that are unhappy with these chains.

Here is something to consider. You are not gaining enough of these unhappy tanners to make you successful. Should you copy these chains? You should establish a business model that will make you successful.

I visit salons where owners or staff are sitting on their asses in chairs behind the desk hoping that tanners will come in. When you go to a successful salon there is no sitting down, much less waiting for things to happen.

Stop complaining about the competition and learn to be the competition. Peach Will tell you he has the most successful salon on the planet, maybe he does, however most independent and small chain owners do not and must make changes or they will fail. Waiting until the landlord is ready to lock your doors is too late.

Don't worry so much about what other salons are doing and focus on what you should change or start doing that you are not doing to make you successful.

We sold a $95 bottle of lotion, $50 bottle and a $139 (lotion, tan, moisturizer ) combination all before noon today. You can tan at 16 locations less then 15 mins from this location to. I do private label that you can't find on discount sites cheap.

Re: palm beach tan

Obviously, this may not apply to MR and some other lesser known brands who actually try to protect their distribution system.

I am referring to the top lotions sold across the country in large numbers. That is not to say that you will sell a few at those prices, but that is frenzy impulse buying that lasts only for a few weeks. After that, you won't be able to pry $100 out of their hands with a crow bar.

We (the tanning industry) have taught our customers to be seasonal shoppers because of our outrageous pricing during the tanning season.

Re: palm beach tan

A word to Steve: I am not the most successful salon on the planet; far from it. But I have survived and been profitable for 22 tanning seasons. I might have something to say that someone who wants to be around for the next 22 years, might want to hear.

Tony, We are all not stupid on this site. You are totally dependent on;
1) a wire, 2) a satellite dish, 3) a telecom company. Lose any of these 3 and you are screwed.

Peach of course not everyone on this site is not stupid but you certainly are. In fact you are worse then stupid. You make statements of fact that are completely unfounded and out of place. You talk about subjects that you obviously know nothing about as though you do. That dosent make you a "know it all" but rather a total "BS'er". You are beyond annoying. In many ways you degrade this board. You need to just shut up when people that REALLY DO KNOW speak.

How do I lose my cable connection AND my 4G connection at the same time? How does your BANK not go down? The have no single points of internet failure. In fact a bank likely has 3 points of connectivity.

Your a total ignoramus when it comes to technology. Are you not still on 3x5 index cards???? You just need to sit down and shut up.

Tony, You want people to think your system is fool proof and the simple fact is that it is not. Banks systems do go down and they are hacked. It can happen, and when an act of God; (weather), and other accidents, or other acts occur, your system is as vulnerable as anyone's.

I do not have to stoop the level of name calling to get my points across, like you do, so I think that it is you who degrade this site.
I will also say that if the leadership of this industry approaches others in their industry the way that you do, it is easy to see why this industry is in the dire straits that it is in. You make my case for poor leadership in this industry everytime you open your mouth.

PS-In 1993, I was one of the first to use computer systems in this business, long before it was common to use timers and computer systems.

And I could care a less if people think its full proof. You make the terrible mistake of judging my motives which is always immoral and usually wrong. Banks systems do go down and they are hacked. Did i mention the word hacked? NO! Could i Be hacked? YES. Can your 3.5 index card file be "hacked? YES :) You didnt question "going down" you questioned losing the internet. I have THREE independent server farms so that I never go down :) It can happen, and when an act of God; (weather), and other accidents, or other acts occur, your system is as vulnerable as anyone's. Dude you just keep talking out your butt. You just cant help your spewing of non-sense can you. Weather or an act of God is not going to take down 2 internets or 3 server farms. An act of God could destroy your entire salon though! And any 2-bit crook can walk in one night and steal your entire PC/database/3x5 index card file :)

I do not have to stoop the level of name calling to get my points across, I do not use name calling to make my points. That would be an Ad hominem attack where I attack the person and not their words. I have CLEARLY attacked your words. And some of the adjectives I have chosen to describe your comments are accurate! like you do, so I think that it is you who degrade this site.
Peach everyone thinks you degrade this site. Some think I do as well but ALL think you do. Did I just attack you or your words? YOUR WORDS!
I will also say that if the leadership of this industry approaches others in their industry the way that you do, it is easy to see why this industry is in the dire straits that it is in. This industry is in dire straights because of CHEAP, IGNORANT and UNPROFESSIONAL business people like you! You make my case for poor leadership in this industry everytime you open your mouth. Oh no you just attacked me? Oh no! Well, I guess I can add hypocrite to your unsavory list of issues!

PS-In 1993, I was one of the first to use computer systems in this business, long before it was common to use timers and computer systems.
It was common to use computers in 1993. I wrote Helios in 1988 and had been selling it for 5 years when you finally got
a computer. So what software and more importantly what version of software are you on?

Your entire post affirms my previous rebuttal to your asinine post. Oh by the way I didnt call you an arse i was clearly referring to your post
but you cant tell the difference between Ad Hominem and Ad Rem. Negative adjectives about ones comments are not an improper use.

You clearly are full of crap with your very LIMITED knowledge of technology. You will debate your ignorant points with anyone that
will argue with you regardless of how wrong you are so whats the point to argue forever with you. You would debate with me or God
Ad Infinitum. I am done with you.

Re: palm beach tan

Tony, Tony, Tony, You are desperate to make everyone on this site think that you are the second coming of Fredrick Wolff. But you are not. You haven't invented anything that didn't currently exist in the IT or computer world, and it is Subject to FAILURE. Just like any IT system in the world today.

You may have reinvented the wheel. You may make a lot of money doing it. More power to you. But No one on this planet has a failure proof IT system. If they did, people wouldn't spend billions of dollars on software firewalls and identity theft protection.

But you use this site to brag and stroke your own ego. I am cool with that. And I can see why you would really want to get rid of folks like me. I am the fly in your ointment for domination of the tanning business. Just the fact that I exist, is proof that you have a ways to go before you develop a good enough plan to dominate the indoor tanning business.

I'll hang around, if for no other reason, to tick you off. And I will encourage others to do the same.

If I was an outsider looking in- I would not be impressed with the name calling and tone of an experienced multiple shop veteran of the industry.
