Facebook marketing

What is the best way to get likes on Facebook, and how important is it to your business?

Re: Facebook marketing

We started using Facebook in December. I do the paid advertising and have had great success. we are well over 300 likes and This past week i had 71 new likes. the best way for free though is to do giveaways. I am in the middle of the 16 days of Giveaways in which i select a random person to give 3 super tans and a sample packette of lotion to. 6 of those customers ended up purchasing months after their 3 tans. and on Valentanz day which is our customer appreciation day i am giving away a free 6 month unlimited membership with their choice of any lotion and a free manicure and pedicure at a neighboring nail salon. All they have to do is like, share, or comment to get their chance to win. the more times they act the better their chances are. We have blown up over this. check out our page for ideas if you want. the salon is Island Tanz www.facebook.com/crosbytanning

Re: Facebook marketing

You can pay to boost but use targeted direct marketing. Two things to consider
As you boost the facebook page and gather tanning customers, Amazon is gathering your newly built flock to market their discount wholesale lotions to. So once they join your page they are harvested.....they are now getting the non stop ads for DC Camo Queen for $17...and all the top shelf premiums for basement pricing. And the ads will pop up on your salon page as well. This is the most egregious one yet.
Secondly, do the research on organic reaches....for example if your post is without a picture or if you use a hyperlink it WILL NOT show in news feeds anymore.

Happy to get you some other tips.

Re: Facebook marketing

I'd love any other FB tips you have to share. I've been experimenting with different ad options, and find it a bit overwhelming! Lots of different types of ads, lots of pricing options, etc.
I did not know about the hyperlink not showing up in news feeds. Thanks for the info.
I'm running an ad now trying to direct people to our website.

Re: Facebook marketing

And your pictures can't have text? Not sure about that one, but have run into a few issues with that.

Re: Facebook marketing

Text can only be a certain percentage of the picture, but they do not seem to have a standard way to measure the text; it's not by pixel.

I see that you are doing giveaways thru individual posts.

Have you or anyone else used an App to do your giveaway? GroSocial? Giveaways Tab?

It's an interesting 9 minute video, but I would be more curious to know if farms are a problem when you do only 1 zip code, 1 gender, 1 age group, etc. at the same time. Sometimes this is a target of 20,000. Maybe the problem here is when you run something targeting a whole country.

I'm not quite sold on being a victim of farms. But I also haven't spent a ton on facebook. Is losing $25 to test something out a huge problem?

Re: Facebook marketing

I do a promoted post or ad 2x a month for anywhere from $10-$250; I have always enjoyed a decent ROI.
