Potential salon owner with a few questions

I have the ability to purchase the following:
"Ok. I have 5 beds and a tmax manager pro which will operate all beds. I have tropical sands signs, a display case that I used for lotions, about 60 bottles of lotion, fans, chairs, little shelves for the rooms" for $5,000. Beds are: 3-28 bulb and 1- 30 bulb with 3 facials. From my research they are older beds but they are the Sunstar zx30 3f and sunvision pro 28 lx and sunvision pro le. I realize he says that he has 5 beds then listed out only 4 so I am waiting on a reply as to what the other remaining bed is. Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal?

My plan would be to add additional beds to this initial line up, but this seems
like a decent start.

I am also considering putting in euro walls rather than doing a complete buildout of a building. Any advice on the use of that type of system to design a salon?

Thank you for any time you take to answer my questions!

Beds are past their prime to say the least. What market are you looking to open in?

28 @ 30 lamp beds really have no place in the market today, unless you are in an extremely small market with no competition. Beds are worth a couple of thousand, so go from there. Do you have enough power (amps) in the space to handle bigger beds? If you only have a 200 amp breaker, you're at the max now. How bout' A/C requirements for larger beds?

Re: Potential salon owner with a few questions

In knoxville,TN. There are a 2 main "big guys" here and then 1 other who is actually trying to sell but they are asking way to much in my opinion. They are do not offer eft at all, no month to month plans, and don't even have a website. They'd be my biggest competition because I guess I feel like you want the big chain or you want the personal atmosphere if an owner operated salon. I'm still researching but I have wanted to do this for a long time and for 5 grand id have a slight start with money left to get more upgraded beds. At least 2 level 3, 1 4 lay down, 1 stand up, and 1 high performing. Plus a spray tan booth. That was my thoughts was around a 10 room salon to start.

Still need to get a location and do a demographic - I'm new to the area as well so I am educating myself right now but don't want to let this go by if it really is as good a deal as it seems even if I had to store be stuff while I do my homework. I think I can at the very least get my 5k back if something went awry?

Thanks again!

I'd pass, because you would end up having to sell this equipment at a loss or pay to get rid of it. Like I said prior, there is no market for that equipment---zero.

For 5K you can buy that type of equipment almost anytime. Draw up a business plan with a budget. Then find a location. Then decide on equipment.
