ASCAP/ Music in Salon

Got a letter from ASCAP demanding I pay for using music in my salon. I don't mind paying if it actually goes to the artist, but I'm not sure this does. Has anyone paid this and is it a one time fee or do they keep coming after you.
I've notice more and more 20 something's use their phone for music and ignore our system anyway.

If your salon is less than 2000sq ft., then you dont have to worry about this.

If you pay for your music service such as satellite then they are already compensated.

Only businesses that use music to collect fees for attendance such as bars are required to pay this money to ASCAP. And it is usually for live music. It is not a one time fee. If you pay it once, they will keep coming after you. Don't do it.

Re: ASCAP/ Music in Salon

We use Muzak (now Mood Media), and they cover our licensing fees.
