Your response is simply taking your usual jab at any post. I expect that from you. However your post does not take away from the fact that this is a real issue that makes salon owners that have a clean operation also look bad by simple industry association. It is also a subject of needed open discussion. So unless you have something of value to contribute, it is best to be silent. |

Salons were doomed from the begining because our industry competes with being the lowest price v.s. value & service, it's like were proud to have the cheapest price and as for clients, most don't care either, they'll tan at cost cutters to get more sessions but don't get that they have to tan 20x there v.s a real salon where they only need 10 tans, they still think it's a great deal. Customers also think all tanning beds are the same- I tanned down the street and went 20 minutes in their base bed for the first time, bla, bla, bla!

I do see room for an “approved” salon program with some sort of national draw (marketing). IE: This salon is Smart Tan certified. However for a program to have credibility, the issuer of the accreditation must be willing to remove the endorsement if certain rules are not followed. The biggest issue is not necessarily the rules or the enforcement, but rather the monitoring. And Steve, do you remember your very own “Tanning for Profit”? What type of package was pushed in that model? Kind of like the pot painting the kettle don’t you think? $12.50/mo unlimited tanning back in 1998; although, I will say it made me a ton of money.
