Do you store your customers lotions?

If yes, where do you store them?

We have a cabinet that's busting out with their lotions and we're looking for new ideas. I've seen bags hanging up the wall at our competitors, but we don't have a lot of wall space.

Re: Do you store your customers lotions?

I always considered building nice little cubbies that customers could rent for $5 +/- extra per membership. The only issue would be assessing a fee for longer memberships, bc $5 for a year membership isn't worth the build.

Anyone ever do this? If so what do you charge, if you even charge

Re: Do you store your customers lotions?

I used to store lotions for customers. I had a huge cabinet behind the counter. It was intended for my customers that tanned 1x per week all year around. Then when someone bought an unlimited they wanted to store theirs for the month, etc etc. What it became was boxes and boxes of lotion left by customers, or "this bottle is empty and I know it was full last time" blah blah.

It was ugly, a huge pain and I still have boxes in the crawl space, because you know the minute you throw them away that is the day they will come looking for it.

Plus when they are stored at your place nobody will ever forget theirs and need to buy a sample!

Re: Do you store your customers lotions?

bags hanging up? what do you mean? We store them for our customers, but it is becoming a problem. They buy multiple lotions and leave them there, they buy a lotion and then don't come back for another year, there's the "i know i had more than this" problem mentioned above, etc. We also have bins full stored in another room from previous tanners that havent been in a while. I'm going to eliminate this option and post a sign with the names/lotions that need to be picked up. People are going to be ******. But oh well. It's a hassle and they don't pay for it anyway.

Storing lotions reduces lotion sales.

Wouldn't want to go there. Too much headache, no upside to it.

We store them for customers that purchase with us! Then we can look back and see how old it is, each year we label with a different color so it is easier to go through and look up the old ones.

Re: Do you store your customers lotions?

Storing lotion increases sales. I'm behind the counter enough to know that. You lack sales skills if you can't sell bottles of lotions.
