Rep Power: 0 | I am so sorry to bother you! Where do actual tanners go? In the Tan Talk Rules, Guidelines and Principles post, it says that people who want to discuss tanning who aren't in the industry should go iamtan dot com, but that website seems to no longer be working? Is there another forum for tanners with questions/issues to go to? Sorry for the off-topic post, but I have some questions and I don't know who to talk to :( |

I'm guessing it would be more appropriate for the sunless board, but at this point because of my consumer status i'm guessing just about everything i say is off topic. I tried Versa about a month ago, and loved the look of it so much (and hated the one-time use cost) that I bought a membership for it. I had been going about twice a week. About a week ago, a tiny rash started to appear on my chest. It was just a few spots, and slightly itchy...but it wasn't extremely noticeable so I didn't think much about it. Then I went for Versa one more time, and 24 hours later, it was like, ten spots and EXTREMELY itchy. The last time I versa'd was last Friday and I'm not going again until whatever this is goes away. It doesn't seem to be spreading, but I can't think of any other reason that I would get this other than because of the Versa. I haven't been doing anything different in terms of product usage, except that I have been exfoliating much more per advice of folks at the salon who always say to exfoliate well before you do a session. I did some googling and I read that it might be contact dermatitis, but I found it strange that it wasn't happening on my face or neck, which are places that are just as sensitive/delicate as my chest. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. It's not getting any worse and the itching is starting to go away, but I love the concept of UV free tanning and am now pretty scared that my body has decided it hates DHA and that's the end of UV free tanning forever :( Thanks for reading |

The bumps are raised, red, small, not oozy, clustered in one general area (right above the middle of my breasts) and from afar look like acne. Very itchy. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: I am so sorry to bother you! Where do actual tanners go? For clarification, is the 2x a week at the same salon you initially went to? Like eileen said, 2x a week is too much; once a week should work well. If your tan does not last all week, you may have a PH issue from soap or lotion or you sweat/swim/shower quite a bit??? Do you use a pre-prep/maximizer gel or spray? Do you have any allergies that you know of? Did you change perfume or use switch among several brands of perfume? Have you ever seen this before w/o spray tanning, even years ago? Question to those spraying Versa juice; does the Versa juice have any alcohol in it?

I used to do UV tanning with no issues but I thought I would try the uv free approach this year. Never in my life has anything caused my chest to breakout. I've never had any type of breakout/rash before other than the standard acne breakouts when I was a teen, and those only occurred on my face. The only thing I do in terms of prep is shower/exfoliate/shave. I don't have any products that are versa or tan specific in terms of pre or post preparation. I'm guessing (?) my tan isn't lasting as long as I'd like because I'm not so good at keeping my skin moisturized after I get it done, or because I'm not doing much follow-up care. I've never been a daily moisturizer type of person because I've got pretty soft skin, but after this debacle occurred I thought maybe I should start moisturizing more so I've been using cocoa butter daily (which has not made the issue worse). I do not wear perfume, and like I said, I normally don't moisturize my body regularly, so maybe it's a combination of using too much Versa & lack of moisture? I was going to see a doctor about it, but it seems to be lessening as my tan fades. |

Where do actual tanners go? any store bought moisturizer is going to have mineral oil or petroleum in it which is murder on a spray tan , it actually pulls the tan off of you. You definitely need to get your moisturizer from the salon which has the proper ingredients for maintaining a spray tan . staying moisturized after a spray tan is literally the key to keeping one looking good and making it last. you should definitely only do it every 7-10 days at the most. BTW coco butter is garbage tan or no tan. |

I know Versa makes some tan products, I will check out my options the next time I am at the salon (when this red mess goes away and the rest of my tan has faded entirely). Thank you so much for your help! |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: I am so sorry to bother you! Where do actual tanners go? You can find good moisturizers in any Wal-mart or similar store. However you will be in the $10+ range and you might as well support your local business. Versa makes some great pre and post care products; ask your tanning salon what you should try. I asked the other members on here about alcohol (no response yet) due to the fact that it can dry out the skin, and in some cases dry skin can cause a rash, especially if already irritated from exfoliation. At this point, my thoughts are: 1.) Make sure you are not having a reaction to the spray (do a test under your arm, near the armpit) 2.) If no reaction and you continue to spray tan, make sure to use a quality moisturizer before a spray tan, w/o mineral oil like ekc123 mentioned. "Store sold" Cocoa Butter is not pure; it has mineral oil in it. * (Special Note) Some salons tell you to not use a lotion after your shower on the days you are going to spray. I have been recommending using a lotion diluted about 50/50 with water for over 7 years and my clients get great results. True, you do not want a heavy lotion on your skin when spray tanning, but IMO dry skin is a much bigger issue. 3.) Try a pre-prep gel to condition the skin and balance the PH prior to the spray tanning and to prolong the results so you do not have to spray as often. 4.) Exfoliate before a spray tan and if possible shower right before going in for your spray. Then minimize exfoliation after the tan; so just use your hands to soap up, no luffas or wash cloths. (I recommend Ivory Simply Aloe) 5.) Keep your skin moist daily with a quality body lotion, versa makes some great products; I personally recommend/sell Serum 21 by Tanology and love that stuff for spray tanners.
