It's the little things that make like hard

Okay, so we talk about about so much on this site - and really urgent stuff too - so I feel kinda silly asking about washer and dryer units.

We bought a salon with a newer washer dryer combo unit. We had to have it fixed several times now. The capacity if low and since the dryer has to vent out over 27 feet, to clogs and the dryer does not work. It's a nightmare. Staff take towels home, I have to make the 1 hour round trip in traffic to get towels to wash and dry at home at night, or we spend hours at the local laundromat spending money.

So, now we are told that due to some recent lawsuit, the cannot sell home units to commercial operations - and the commercial units are much more expensive than home use ones. But, may have to resort to this option.

Question - what does everyone else do for laundry? Does anyone have a commercial unit - we have limited space. Does anyone have the new units that wash and dry all at once? That's a consideration because no lint vents are needed.

I need help, advice and answers quickly because we've spent a fortune on repairs and looking to spend another fortune on a new unit.

Thanks

In over 20 years have never bought a commercial unit. Just go to an independent seller

Re: It's the little things that make like hard

Update:

Lawsuit states that anyone putting a non-commerical use unit in a commercial use site is legally liable for any and all damage caused by fire to that business and or surrounding businesses. We're in a center with 6 other units and a gas station behind us.

I have a call into my insurance agent to discuss this tomorrow. We have a friend in the appliance business (residential only) and he won't even sell us a machine.

Wish there was a better answer

Consider farming this out to a local laundromat and save yourself the work and headache. Consider it a cost of doing business. You should be able to find a service that charges in the neighborhoof of $1 per pound. This will include washing, drying, folding, detergent, etc...

It may seem like alot, but it really is not when ou consider time, hassle, elect., gas, detergent, etc..

You may even find someone who would pick up and deliver.

Don't take the risk with buying a non industrial machine. The above idea is great, you can probably get a good contract with a local laundrette.

I would check into a laundry service. One of my friends uses one and they even provide the towels. She swears by it because it frees up her time and is less inconvenience for her.

Re: It's the little things that make like hard

Thank you everyone for the ideas. Looking into laundry services, though I have not been able to make it work on paper yet. The dryer vent was fixed with a permanent interior screen that we clean out daily. Working great now.

The washing in a river idea is appealing, however the off site, raging river situation raises my work comp insurance. But thank you for the laugh.

Search maytag commercial on E-bay
they have stack units if you need them
go with gas dryer if you can and use metal piping for the exhaust ONLY
no flex tube
