Rep Power: 15 | Australian Gold's campaign against tanning I am almost speechless what I just saw posted on Australian Gold's Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/australiangoldtanning (it's a photo of Donatella Versace looking like she spent a whole decade in a microwave oven) Am I the only one who thinks that this is so inappropriate on so many levels? 1. Very professional making fun of people on your corporate Facebook page. People in our industry are insecure enough. 2. You're a lotion manufacturer post photos of people that are overbaked? 3. You're opening up the discussion for people to post things like, "THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T TAN! Looks like she has leather for skin." Way to go, AG. The products on my shelves will be the last New Sunshine products I'll be selling, which is unfortunate because I really like the new Cal Tan sunless stuff. Amazing. |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: Australian Gold's campaign against tanning I mean, it's clear what the picture was intended to do. It's just very unprofessional and tactless, which is something our industry doesn't need, IMO. This isn't the first time I've seen tanning bashing on their page, but I never expected them to throw fuel on the flames. |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: Australian Gold's campaign against tanning Yes. They removed the post from their wall now, but they still have the photo with all the comments. If you click at the top of the second photo of a shriveled lady you'll see them. 161 comments. It WAS posted on their wall and blasted to everyone who "Likes" them. I can e-mail screen shots. I tried to attach them here but it shrunk them really small for some reason. :P |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Australian Gold's campaign against tanning Bill Pipp got back to me right away and sent an email off to the department that handles Facebook stuff. I think it was just a poor decision by someone in their company. Glad to see they took care of it right away. |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Australian Gold's campaign against tanning It WAS a poor decision (honestly, even if it wasn't that she was overly tan, making fun of people for ANY reason is classless) and glad Bill was alerted so they could make that change. I DID see the pic and comments in "photos" Spook - definitely some staff member who was NOT thinking through what they were doing! |
