Help me please settle an argument

As we all know it isnt heat that tans us its the uv content, but the argument is which is better for tanning a hot sunbed where people are getting off early because its too hot or a cooler sunbed kept cool by the sunbeds fans? Also whilst on the subject does anyone know the optimum temperature for best results from the tubes? My distributor once told me that when they reach a certain temp the performance starts to drop off is this true?

A cooler bed does tan better. And your Disty was correct.

The HOT bed thing started years ago. When tanning started in the USA years ago, The only ones doing were hair salons that added on the tanning.

and of course their build outs were not for tanning, thus not enough A.C. The salons were way to hot, and customers came to think the beds had to be hot to tan.

Tanning beds that run too hot not only shorten lamp life - But shorten the life of the bed. Running an over heated bed will cause alot of un-needed repair.

Burnt wires, fried sockets, over worked Ballest.

just tell your customers if heat tanned you ud have a salon full of saunas! and inform them that many beds now feature built in air conditioning. most states (regulated ones) only allow the temperature of a bed/room to reach a certain degree. like 90 or 100 degrees...thats hot!

Re: Help me please settle an argument

Optimum lamp wall temperature is 108ºF. Optimum ambient room temp. is 72ºF for the bed to run at this internal temperature. As the lamp heats up the output increases. When the lamp heats up past that range of 108ºF the output will begin to decline again. Heat and infrared has zero to do with the tanning process in the body. Heat is just a by product of the lamp itself and must be regulated for optimum performance.
