Rep Power: 0 | Paying Commission??? Our salon is in Illinois. We are starting a policy change that if an employee does not give a proper 2 weeks notice, they will forfeit any commissions earned during the current commission pay period. We are also thinking of applying this to any employee that is terminated by the company. Does anybody out there do anything like this? Looking for more info/research before we begin this. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Paying Commission??? They are Bonuses NOT comissions, nowhere should your literature say comissions, Bonuses do not have to be paid, comissions do. ( IRS rules) if you state the 2 week policy on your pay scale and have them return it signed saying they agree to the pay policy of this business you are good! |

Rep Power: 14 | Re: Paying Commission??? Federal law states, no commissions can be withheld, no matter what circumstances are, and any contract between employer/employee is void by fed law. Any paid commision due is cheaper than a law suit by employee for back wages. You will lose. Money earned is money earned. Period. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Paying Commission??? In Michigan, you are required by law to pay an employee what is due them. We were reported to the department of labor for not doings so with a former receptionist that did not turn in her key, and actually was arrested for stealing from us (caught on surveillance camera), and still had to pay! No way around it, you have to pay! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Paying Commission??? I agree with tikitan, they are bonuses in my salon, not commissions. My policy states that the employee must be "employed at the time the bonus is paid" in order for the bonus to be added to their paycheck. Otherwise, they are paid for the hours they worked, no more, no less. |
