Rep Power: 17 | Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt Hello! I wanted to get everyones thoughts on this idea. I was at Suntan Supply's Ohio Show and there was one idea that has really had me thinking! It was an idea a Michigan Salon came up with "Free Tan Tuesday" they sold t-shirts with their salon name on it and the words Free Tan Tuesday for $10 and the point was every Tuesday in their town you would see all these people walking around wearing this businesses shirt... which is great advertising and creates a buzz! But, I have never been big into the "Free" stuff.. I like to do more added value.. So this makes me hestiate. Also I was wondering how to do this.. if it went that far...any thoughts if you do think is a good idea on how long it should be for, what type of beds, etc... ? My biggest question would be for how long...forever? that seems too much!! gotta cap I would think ... I also dislike doing promotions with a TON of rules and tracking...like to keep it simple, but its about impossible with some of the public who think of ways to scam the system constantly :/ Thank ya!

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt Honestly, with the amount of "anti-tan" out there, I don't think that many people would actually be willing to wear the shirt out in public! Maybe slip it on to get their free tan then change but I don't see a mass of people walking around town in a salon's free tan t-shirt. I could be wrong but I don't see it. That said, if you think it could work in your town, go for it! I'd have the "free" be on the base bed, they can upgrade to better ones. Some will just do the free and only come on Tuesdays so basically pay $10 to tan once/week for life - sure. But most won't. Personally I think giving a free tan (or $$ amount) for referrals will go further for you. If you have someone who is really "gung-ho" (the same one who would probably wear the t-shirt), they may send 10-20+ new customers your way just to earn free tanning. I gladly give them free tanning for new potential customers! |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt At the Ergoline show in Vegas a couple of years ago, there was a salon on the discussion panel that was doing this. I think they did it as a summer promotion during July and August when traffic is slow. As I recollect they were very successful with this promo. |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt we sell shirts with our logo and we sometimes put it out there on facebook and the website to wear your shirt on xx day and get a 1/2 price HP or 10 off airbrush , ect. we sold about 200 shirts last year and when we do the special we do get people in that may not be tanning at the time, so I would say it works A LITTLE, BUT it does get people wanting to buy shirts that we make 6 bucks off of. We sell our shirts for 10. we tried 15 and sold a few, but when we priced them at 10, they went like wildfire. |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt I like the idea. I'd change it a little, but the biggest thing I'd do is make the shirt good for a year. Each year would be a different color and logo. That way they have to buy a new shirt each season. To take sunsally's idea a bit further I'd look at creating a shirt for people who refer a significant number of people to your salon. I "high roller" club of some sort and give them a day each month that if they wear the shirt they get a free HP visit and if wearing during purchasing their package a discount. Actually... I'm going to look in to that now. We have a few people who send a really high number of others to us each year that would get a kick out of something like that. |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt I would like to try this. Was thinking of buying the new sunshine t shirts at Smarttan. We have our own but was wondering where you got yours, ekc123, that you were able to sell them for $10 and still make $6...? Online or local business for printing? thanks |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Free Tan Tuesday/ T-shirt locally. t-shirts 1.50 printing 2.5, but there is a minimum purchase on both of 250. good quality shirts though. 2x and up are more. originally the first run was more because the screen was like 350, but that is not figured in anymore cuz we already made that back. |
