Customers complaining of lines?

We just opened our first salon about a month ago and business has been great so far. I have 3 perfect tan widebody beds and we changed out all the bulbs, starters, and ballasts before we opened. However, I have had 4 clients complain about lines down their back after tanning, and each bed has been mentioned. The strange thing is that none of the other tanners (including myself) have noticed it.

I know the most common reason would be bad bulbs but all of them have been changed, all the bulbs are working, and it isn't limited to just one bed. Could it be the way they are laying? I don't know what to tell them...any advice?

Re: Customers complaining of lines?

Are the complainers about the same body type? It is common for tanners to get the smiley face on the rear. I wonder if this is something similar.

Are the lines the full length of their back or is it just certain spots?

they are full length...they say they are getting one line on each side of their spine...but it is only on their back. Its just strange because all the bulbs are working.

Could it be from pressure points? It's common for some people to get white lines in the shoulder blade area (each side of the spine?) due to pressure points. You may want to tell them to somehow adjust their position a few times during their tan. Nothing major- just don't lie in the exact same way the entire time.

yeah...I think it may be the way they are laying. If it were because of the bulbs, more people would have this problem.

hit it on the head. It's from the acrylic support for the bench acrylic.
