Re: I Beach Tan w/ 24/7 concept tanning

Indeed, standard salons are missing out on 1/3 of the working class as being potential clients. Numerous grocery stores as well as most gyms are now 24 hour (in our area at least), so why not tanning salons? We figure within the next 7-10 years 90% of salons will be 24 hour. We are just ahead of the curve and getting other salons there with our 24 hour software.

7-10 years? I would bet that in 7-10 years a lot of things will change in this business, and it wouldn't be 24 hour tanning. I would chance, completely buying new equipment, spending $150,000, before I would spend it on converting my salon to 24 hour. Tanning salons might not be around 10 years from now; I know I won't.

Re: I Beach Tan w/ 24/7 concept tanning

I'm having a real challenge as well with the 24/7 and gyms moving in. Planet Fitness just opened next town over and of course they have tanning. Fortunately for me they are in NY and you can't tan under 18 there now, but who knows if they will abide by regulations. They open the 18th of this month and I am nervous about losing clients, I was really hoping on a financially healthy tanning season (ha). All I can do is hold on and hope there beds are crappy....

Well I can't offer a 100% accurate time frame as to when I think it would happen for most salons, that is just safe estimate of time based on recent trends of other services/business. As for spending $150,000 for all new equipment versus $3000 (a lot more to convert to a 24 hour franchise) for software and hardware to convert to 24 hour, to each his own I suppose! Business owners all think differently.

Have seen a few 24 Hour tanning salons. I am still at a loss on how the beds are cleaned, inventory secured, etc.

Re: I Beach Tan w/ 24/7 concept tanning

The time for 24hr salons has came and left. 15 years ago I could have easly ran 24 hours, I had to fight to lock the door at midnight.

Today there are not enough tanners to justify staying open til 10 pm.

Re: I Beach Tan w/ 24/7 concept tanning

Though I see some benefits in 24/7 tan, I must say GunnerTan, one closed by us recently..there was one on Hwy 92 near MacLand rd..shut down. It was not, I believe, a franchise, nor do I know the history..could be a result of 'the times'.

Still have not taken you up on your invitation to visit..been busy. But I will soon :)

And I agree with Parrot Head...many won't be here in 10 years. This industry will be lucky to survive the next 5...I would assume the 'smart salons' have an exit strategy in place. Time is approaching, IMO, to implement it. I already have..

Exclamation Do your homework on iBeach !

Please be careful and do your homework on iBeach, a 24/7 Tanning Franchise that has a franchise fee of $7,500 and you are told you can get set up for $35,000 or less. I'd would buy 50 locations at that price. Many states DO NOT allow 24/7 Tanning besides.

If it's too good to be true....well, you know the rest!
PLEASE.... DO YOUR HOMEWORK....!!!!!
