Rep Power: 0 | Eyewear Policy How strict is your salon about eyewear? At my salon we have to see eyewear eachtime. Its state law that we make sure clients have eyewear. We do not loan eyewear and require each client to have their own eye protection. even though we are only making sure customers are protected, this really seems to annoy them:O. They hate digging it out of their purses, I get eyerolls and sighs, some even lie about having it...so I've had to change my wording from " do you have your eyewear with you today?" to "may I see your eyewear, please?" Only because after asking if they have it, then to see it, Ive caught customers lying which is embarrassing for both of us. So does your salon require that you have your own eyewear or do they provide it in the rooms (so unsanitary IMO)? If you have to bring your own, are you asked to show it eachtime? What happens if you forget it one day, do you have to purchase new ones? (we sometimes give free winkeez or Vk's when this happens) Just curious what other salons policies are. People make me feel like Im such a jerk for wanting to save their vision:( |

We don't ask to see it either because yeah, its kind of a hassle for them. We do make sure that the first time they come in to tan that they show us that they have it or purchase some. From then on it's up to them. It doesn't matter if they show you it or not because if they insist on not wearing it, they won't. They will just show it to you and back in the purse it goes until next time you ask for it. We have a Q&A trifold with pics on our desk that shows what can happen if you don't protect your eyes and that has changed a lot of peoples mind. We just make them purchase some or show proof their first visit. |

We go through the whole "it's required by law" & "we're just trying to take care of you " & all of what every salon does- now we add to that... that there's now an "FDA Rule" that imposes a $2,500 fine on any salon that doesn't enforce this law...... believe me, i'm honest w/ my customers & generally try to build relationships by giving them the best values etc etc ............ except w/ this !!!!!!!!!!!

Most have it out to show us before we even ask. We don't hold their hand in the room, though, to make sure they actually use it. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Eyewear Policy We always ask to customers if they have their eye-wear. We cant make them put it on, but what can you do? We have the little poster of the pictures of eyes that were over-exposed and even have an official looking sign that says "eye protection must be worn". Our state does not require eye-wear but our salon requires it! I don't ask to see it every time, but do ask if they have it.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Eyewear Policy Here in Texas the law requires that eye wear be located near the bed. There is really know way to keep track of who takes them with them when they leave the salon. It can be very costly that way. If we do not put them there the Health Dept writes it up. I have put up a box of Winkez. And keep the peepers behind the counter for sale. A problem has been that those who do take a pair home dont bring them with them when they come back to tan. |

I would never want to wear anyone else's eyewear on my eyes......Especially as cheap as they are we only charge 3.50 a pair. Had a guy the other day ask yet again to borrow my complimentry pair and I said hey man would you like to buy some of your own? He said as long as you provide them for free why would I ever buy a pair........OMG that burnt my you know what. So first of the year I will no longer furnish comp eyewear.....the question is how do i do this without making my peeps mad at me.....at this point i almost don't care LOL cheap peeps hate em |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Eyewear Policy We have to provide them for each customer here in TX. We wrap them around the towel. If they are still wrapped around the towel when we go in to clean the bed, we ask the customer if the have their own and make them show them to us. I have no problem whipping out the disgusting eye pictures and showing them to people. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Eyewear Policy In Maryland it is required by law that we SEE the eye wear PRIOR to their tanning experience. Lots of people get mad at us and lie about it...and we don't care if we catch them in a "white lie" ... we make them buy more. No one goes into that room without having some with them! We are not to be responsible for what happens to their eyes...we can't make them wear them, but we will not be held responsible for their eye doctor bills when they come back saying they've got cataracts or night vision loss! NOT OUR PROBLEM! We have signs everywhere, and EyePro counter mats showing what can happen to your eyes if it happens. It has changed a lot of people's minds about wearing them...I would recommend emailing Brenda from EyePro, she'll be more than happy to send you a couple! www.EyePro.net has all the info you need..have your employees watch the online training video. We were required to do so by our salon owner. Very helpful information - will deff help with up selling of the eye wear! |
