TAN TAX

Is everyone going to start charging the 10% tax on 7/1 or waiting until actually receiving notification from Fed Gov? Where is $$$ sent and where or what form is used?

Thanks

Re: TAN TAX

This actually has me confused. Does this mean I have to charge 10% total tax or 10% plus the 7% we already charge... so 17% for tanning. Yikes! I'm new to the business if that isn't obvious. We just opened our salon May 15th. So far our customers have just asked if we are raising our prices in response and we've been assuring them that our prices are not increasing and the raise in their bill does not come from the salon but rather from the Feds. They all seem to understand this and accept it.

I'm just personally confused about what my computer system now needs to have as a total tax.

Re: TAN TAX

I agree with you and tell my customers as you do. I just dont feel I should have to do it unless officially notified and especially when there is still "talk" about changes. I use Helios software and the change is already made and will show a separate breakout on the receipt to show this new tax

I use Helios as well. I haven't gone in and made any changes yet, or did this come in an update? I'm still kind of in a learning curve and sometimes feel stupid with this software. I have been trying to get ahold of tech support for another issue and they've been overloaded, must be about the tan tax.

Re: TAN TAX

I thought from reading an earlier email from Helios that the update occurred earlier and all I had to do was reboot since I have Centrix. But I got another email today that says to shut down tonight for the update to download. Maybe a repeat for me but I will do it--just hope my reboot works fine in the morning and Im not "frozen"--have a lot of spray tan business to attend to with the holiday and I need my credit card machine to work!!

Re: TAN TAX

Weird. I haven't gotten any such emails. Hopefully I can figure this all out tonight and the morning shift will go smoothly.

Re: TAN TAX

exclusivetan1---Did you say in a prior post that the state of ND charges you a 7% tax on tanning, and also product? My God, if this is true, 17% will surely do what the government intends, and get rid of tanning as we know it.
