Okay. So after hearing something from a customer I could not help but check this one out.

Called Tanning Salon on cell phone....Hello, can I get your prices for tanning?
Salon reply....We cannot do that over the phone!
My reply....why not?
Salon...against our policy.
Me....Okayyyy??????...goodbye.

Within 10 seconds my cell phone rings.

Salon...Is this Crystal?
Me...Yes..who is this?
Salon...This is salon "Top Secret"...we are calling you back to confirm you with your caller ID.
Me...Okay..WTF?
Salon..we have to do this because other salons call and try to get our prices...so we wait and confirm you then call you back.
Me...WHO CARES if another salon knows your prices? Don't you find this all completely silly?
Salon...they might try and copy us and get our prices.
Me....You guys are idiots...Have a nice day! Click

NO JOKE...This is EXACTLY what my customer told me happened to her. Like your prices are in some sort of classified and top secret government file. THANK YOU for practically "giving" me your potential customers! WHAT total complete morons and idiots!

Hey...if anyone wants the number let me know....it is sooo funny.

I have had disagreements with a few others on this topic in the past. I don't understand why prices and promos are so secret.

1. I can walk into your salon as a customer and see your prices anytime
2. I've found that hiding prices from people in general in the past hasn't worked out so well

I prefer honesty. I like it when competitors' employees come in and buy a single session and are honest about it. I'll take your money! :)

Top secret salon is incredibly immature.

Initial impressions are everything and that kind of service would be enough to leave a bad taste in anyones mouth.

My prices are always out front. I'm the highest in town and will remain that way. Pumpkin man always stays 3 - 5 dollars below me.

My level 2 is almost $40 above the comp, And I probally sell more then the others.

Just know how to run your store.

Not in town for a few days, but will post the number when I get in there for you.

What that essentially does is aggravate people. For one, the sheer silliness of it makes you just shake your head. But many others also basically force someone to travel to their place just to get a price and most people won't do that. You are right in that it takes 5 minutes to get someones price so why look ridiculous.

What salon wants to go to the trouble of calling people back. Plus, OBVIOUSLY if a salon owner wants their prices, they'll call from a cell phone or home home!! Pretty crazy, but entertaining!
