"Profit levels are higher with spray-on tanning booths, therefore the shift toward these substitutes may actually improve the industry."
Ultraviolet bed sessions cost from $5 to $7 on average, typically lasting 15 to 20 minutes, so the industry relies on a high turnover of clients. During tough economic times, diversifying a salon's menu with health and beauty services is a good way to help generate revenue, Van Horn said.
"Tanning salons are operating in a mature market," Van Horn said. "To stay in the game, salons need to adapt to market trends and offer innovative spray-on tanning products and services.

Idont know if this is legal,but was wondering if any of you pay commissioned based salary. I sometimes pay commission when a have a new hairdresser.But wondering if anyone pays thier salon staff just commission, on sales lotions and packages?

It's legal as long as at the end of the pay period your employee makes at LEAST minimum wage during that period. Any employee who's commission is less than what they would have made by earning minimum wage must be compensated to minimum wage earnings.
