client records

We purchased an exsisting salon a couple of years ago. They were using a card system that we quickly replaced with a computer and salon software. We transfered the card information to the new software. My question is how long should I hang on to these old cards? Is there any legal reason or other to keep the cards? There are boxes and boxes of these dating back almost 10 years.
Thanks.

Re: client records

I don't know if you have any regulations in your state. If they are just the client info I would trash them as long as I have backup of the computer copy of them.
