Re: info on helios

Helios told me no.

In fact, with Helios there is a front and back end to any inventory item. You have the sales code and the inventory code. When people delete product codes they tend to just do the sales code. Makes a mess of things when doing inventory reports.

Re: info on helios

You might be able to in Helios Back office or using Microsoft Access....but i wouldn't know how. I've always done it manually one by one...but i haven't let get out of hand.

When i drop a line, i go in and delete the 10-20 products manually.

Re: info on helios

i believe helios has a utility they can run to clear it out. you could always swap out the inventory.mdb file with the one that comes on the disk. I think helios preloads a bunch of inventory codes on there so not sure how much work that would eliminate for you. (maybe they can send you an empty inventory.mdb file..not sure. I would suggest calling them.

Re: info on helios

The problem is with helios date checksum. Otherwise you would think that swapping out a "virgin" file would work. Worth a shot but I would think the "invalid date" error would come up.

Re: info on helios

At your own risk, open the mdb file directly with Access. Create a query using the SQL query window to select and delete the required items based upon some type of criteria. For example with zero inventory and last receive date before a certain date... You'll have to link the Salecode:sales_code and the Invt:inventory tables. (File --> Get External Data --> Link Tables)

Helios 11 is just a gui front-end of an access database. I've had to through the years fix many issues directly in the data that the Helios program couldn't find.

Also, what's with their stupid "invalid date" error? Just a gimmick to force people to call support? Anytime we are closed for more than a few days in a row, we will get this error. In case anyone is curious, to resolve when receiving this error due to "extended" days lapsed with no Helios usage, just close Helios, set your PC time to 3 days after the last Helios transaction date. Open Helios, do a sample/test transaction. Close Helios. Increase your PC date 3 more days. Open Helios, do a sample/test transaction. Just repeat until you have caught up with your current correct date.

This has always fixed our problems when getting the date error in Helios.

Re: info on helios

A sample access query to join the two tables would be:

SELECT inventory.*, sales_code.*
FROM inventory INNER JOIN sales_code ON inventory.inv_code = sales_code.code;

Do this after linking one of the tables to the other database file.
