Hummingbird Spas ex The Spa Club? - tanTALK

Anybody heard about these guys? Someone came in to my place today talking merger, to provide things like laser hair removal, microderm, hair, nails via portable equipment. 33 locations and growing. They take appointments for certain days of the week and roll in their equipment to do the work. The party line was real good since they could use tanning rooms that are low-volume and redirect them temporarily as spa rooms. I haven't seen the financial model yet to see who really wins, but that will definitely happen. In the meantime I'd check here to see anyone has heard anything good or bad about these folks. Thanks for any insight.

Well so much for that. After setting up an agreement, taking over half my space, making me fire 3/4 of my staff (not up to spa standards) and trying to bend us to their will, they walked in today and said it ain't gonna work, we're moving out - thanks for trying. No notice, no warning, no attempt to discuss, just goodbye. So they're returning my beds and I get to keep the reno work. These folks wanted the space but had no use for the tanning side at all. "It's easy", they said. THEIR sales didn't show how easy it was. "Men shouldn't work in a spa" they said, MY sales of SPA services beat the CRAP out of what they sold on the tanning side - and *I* wasn't being cooperative? As often heard on this board: FAKEM! If anyone else here is approached by them, my only advice is: RUN! They want a spa and will simply walk if they don't get EVERYTHING that they want. You will give up your identity and soul to these creeps. Yes, I'm bitter but I'm a fighter and will be here.

Lesson learned? Next time be sure to cover your @$$ in the paperwork. Make 'em pay for screwing with you.

what a scam! Imagine this business idea. HEY I HAVE THIS SPA IDEA WHERE WE DON'T RENT A SPACE JUST KICK PEOPLE OUT OF THEIRS!

Oh my a$$ was covered - they're paying to put everything back the way it was before they "discovered" me and reno'd the crap out of the place. The good side? Nice wood floors, new paint job and a new appreciation by customers - "those spa folks were so intense/stuffy/pressing/(insert negative adjective here)". This will probably be better for business than if they HAD stayed. How ironic....
