Question Wanted: Hydration station advice ???

Ok, so we are thinking about getting an Aqua Massage... as stated in a previous thread I posted.

Now I just spent 45-minutes on the phone with someone who has me convinced I should purchase a Hydration Station before I buy anything else.

We are an average salon (9-units)... so I stated looking at used Hydration Stations for $9-10k (as opposed to new for $18k). Call me cheap, or thrifty, but I like to save money and hunt for good deals.

Question: Is a Hydration Station worth the purchase???

If, so... has anyone bought used and had problems... or advice I should consider?

I'm up in the Northeast and we have lots of frugle tanners... but after 45-minutes of a sales pitch... I'm going to look further into it.

We want something to draw in new revenue and customers... and I was bent on getting an Aqua Massage... Now I'm all confused. Maybe even both if I find two sweet deals

Thanks in advance for any advice

Head down to the south shore (quincy) there is a salon there that has one. I can't remember the name of the salon. (It's a franchise)

Re: Wanted: Hydration station advice ???

Hydration station needs plumbing or water needs to be emptied every three clients. Also, the room may smell after use because some people can’t take it and pee in the water. Also, the hydration station is not a massage; it just spritzes the water mixed with lotion.

In aquamassage you get true massage; with it you can get new customers who want massage – not just tanners. Look on Google for some resellers or salons in your area.

I believe the SkinSpa by Mystic has a similar effect with their ReplenishingMyst. If you're seriously considering the hydration station, you may want to price compare it to a MyMyst system which is more versitile.

Re: Wanted: Hydration station advice ???

Hey Classicwhite... thanks for derailing me from the Hydration Station... I'm back on the Aqua Massage wagon now.

The whole comment about someone not being able to take it... and peeing in the unit... Umm! Gross!.. it's bad enough wiping up mini swimming pools from inconsiderate tanners... Pee? I'm out.

Plus the wife didn't think enough people would invest the time to do both sessions.

Thanks for that advice

Re: Wanted: Hydration station advice ???

Both are a waste for a salon setting. Hire a LMT and take a cut of the $$$. You will thank me.

Re: Wanted: Hydration station advice ???

What do you do with an EMPTY room when LMT doesn’t show up or is tired from previous night’s drinking?

I AM A BRAND NEW SALON OWNER AND I HAVE A HYDRATION STATION...I LOVE IT AND WHILE IT IS A HIGHER END ITEM I AM SLOWLY BUT SURELY BUIILDING A CLIENT BASE FOR IT...IT DOES HAVE A VIBRATORY MASSAGE THAT YOU CAN CONTROL...WATER DOES NOT SPRITZ AT YOU...FIND ONE GO TRY IT OUT....I USE IT REGULARLY MYSELF AND RAVE ABOUT IT TO MY CUSTOMERS...I JUST BOUGHT BATHORBES SO MY CUSTOMERS CAN GO FROM ROOM TO ROOM WITHOUT HAVING TO GET REDRESSED....

Re: Wanted: Hydration station advice ???

You need a spa setting to make any of the two work. The Aqua Massage needs a high traffic, very visable setting to work. An ordinary tanning salon, should stay with what they best and forget about things that are just going to collect dust. I've tried a lot of different things, but should have saved the money.
