Rep Power: 0 | Need Some Advice Please I have been tanning for a few months now and was using Cypher, I discovered that it was much cheaper to purchase online versus at my salon. However, my salon recently put out a notice that was titles "BEWARE ONLINE BUYERS", it then went on to say that more than likely I was purchasing counterfeit or old product...is this true? or is the salon just attempting to worry the consumer because they are losing business to online merchants? if it is true, what are some reputable online dealers? Thanks in advance for any help!! |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Need Some Advice Please Its true. I had counterfeits behind my counter to prove it. People had brought them in. IN some cases the bottle were identical but the product was obviously some cheap lotion. Probably a used bottle that was re-filled. Other had packaging that was similar but there were more than a couple differences in design. But I am wondering why a tanner who is, for the most part, starting out is using Cypher anyway? Its a high-end product that has skin care more geared for advanced tanners and even older people (40+). I dont know how old you are, but if you are under 40 this lotion may be over-kill. Of course this may just be me doing what I like to do, sell what the client needs versus what they want! :)

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Need Some Advice Please If you like quality, then continue to buy from your salon. You can go to any of the lotion manufature websites and see that they do not authorize any online sales of their products mainly for the reasons stated above. I have had clients order from online and found that their purchase was either a previously opened bottle of product (not full) and also another was very old. If you do not know this, tanning products made especially for indoor use do not have mineral oil in them which is a form of preservative used in all store bought products. Therefore, salon products only have about a 12 months shelf life. If you purchase online, you have no idea how old the product is or if it has been kept at the appropriate temperatures. If this is the case, the product will break down, become thin and sometimes alter the smell (stinky) and thus not work at all. I hope this helps you understand why u should not buy online. |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: Need Some Advice Please Cypher is a great tanning lotion! Remember that it's best to PREVENT problems than to worry about them afterwards so keep using the best stuff there is and Cypher is up there. The problem with ON LINE purchases is that no lotion company authorizes the on line sales of their products so it's BUYER BEWARE. Most likely old/dated/used products on eBay. |
