Rep Power: 17 | JASON Sale Everyone seems to run some pretty crazy sales during JASON on their tanning prices. I really don't want to discount my tanning so I am thinking of doing it differently. We are going to offer a free bottle of lotion when you buy a tanning package. Tanning would be sold at full price. An example would be a bottle of smile! you're dark! when someone buys one of our Level 2 packages or a bottle of tickled pink for our level 3/4 and our 4 visit HP package. If they wanted a more expensive lotion they would pay the difference between the free lotion and the lotion they wated to purchase. I think this would be a great marketing tool and bring in far more money than a $99 tan till next year a salon down the road is running. Anyone else doing something similar or have in the past? What were the results? Thanks! |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: JASON Sale Long term lock-ins are best for this time period. 1. EFT (give them "double upgrades" or 50% off upgrades with their enrollment fee) For those that don't do EFT, or do other options, try to get them to commit THROUGH the fall. One way is to offer a SUMMER package now (e.g. buy 2 months, get 1 free or $93 for 93 days or something clever like that), then in July, offer THOSE tanners a "tan 'till the end of the year" pass. The inital money for the summer is forgotten -- now the rest of the year is even LESS, for even MORE time. Keep them with you until Jan 1 -- when they won't WANT to leave because it is getting to prime season again! Lather, rinse, repeat. But EFT is your best value and FIRST presentation! |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: JASON Sale Don't discount anything!People will pay, unless you have competition across the street, theres no need to discount. We raised our prices and traffic is still heavy, people *****ed as they dug into there purses and wallets, but who cares as long as they still pay. I use to think the same way,but if your service is good and your tanners appreciate the results, they will continue to fork over the cabbage. Quit giving it away people! The rising cost of cigarettes, alcohol and gas has not stopped people from drinking, smoking and driving.tanning is no different. |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: JASON Sale People DO pay - however, fewer of them pay during the "off season" -- hence the fact that we have volumes on how "seasonal" tanning is. EFT's are your best bet to make your salon more year 'round and less seasonal. Other ways are to offer incentives to get people to PAY TO TAN - when they would NOT have otherwise. Feb/March/April/May/June - easy to get them to pay. July - January -- less of them are interested. So, if you can, figure out a way to get MORE of them "interested" - enough to pay. Whether they actually make the effort to get there very often or not. Now -- Megatanman makes a good point about competition. Frankly, I don't know a lot of markets that do NOT have competition across the street any more! But if you are - bonus! But I would still encourage you to look for ways to get MORE people to want to tan MORE times --with you! |

Rep Power: 23 | Re: JASON Sale Just my 2 cents......... People I would lay off the discounting. I have not done any in 2 years. This is a different day. First you have the ITA/Berman effort, Second you have the very high gas prices, People are not doing the big vacation. My May just out performed April at all 4 of my stores. Added almost 300 new clients. Are your expenses less during Jason ? I think not. Sure there will be less tanners, Thats a given. Why not take the slower time to bind with the better customers, Who are your year round tanners. Again , just my 2 cents Bob |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: JASON Sale Thats what we have effectively done.We have binded with better customers.Upscale customers who spend $$$$ for a good service. I don't know about other salon owners, but I got tired of the dregs of society feeding off me. NO discounts NO free tanning NO unlimiteds. |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: JASON Sale I'm considering leaving everything the same as well. This will be our first JASON and we're not sure what to expect. We don't want to sit around and do nothing, but we don't want to disocunt if we don't have to. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: JASON Sale It's much better to give tanning away free w/lotion purchase. Tanning costs you a whole lot less than lotion. Buy a lotion for at least $50 and get a free gift card worth $25 to apply to tanning. Buy a lotion for at least $50 and give them a punch card, worth what they paid for the lotion, to be used on buying just single tans. The lotion is free. I sell a bottle of Black for $99 and give them $99 worth of single tans. Another summer special I'm doing is buy 2 months, get the third free. |
