Re: Lawrence Ryan

Wow, it's even more powerful watching it again from these clips. What an amazing spirit he was, to overcome such abuse, and take care of his brothers. It sill makes me wonder who stole from him. It seemed like he had a lot of employees that were his friends, but not true friends, that didn't have something to gain from him.

Re: Lawrence Ryan

Thanks EZ for putting this all in one spot. I met Larwence a couple of times and really did like his vigor for life. That was 'maybe' befor the addiction, but am thinking it may have just started. Cancun"""

Such a personalble guy, good looks, and a zest for life. Sad he got cut down so young. My best wishes and thoughts go to his family and his memory.

Re: Lawrence Ryan

I would first like to thank everyone that has sent condolences to our family at this time we are all grateful for the out pouring of support all of America has showed. The family has received so many comments regarding the Intervention which we would like people to know was a 55 min show and did not reflect who he was after the Intervention.
It saddens the family that he has passed and at a young age. again thank you so much for all the support and love!!

Re: Lawrence Ryan

Hi, I just wanted to reply to your comment about the best or worst in people, Lawrence had people that stole from him in his life and robbed him. people who said they were his friends, these are the same people who chose to contribute to the down fall instead of help him! Our family firmly believes that Lawrence was murdered the intervention stated the wrong information and they are actually going to be redoing the ending at the request of my Aunt Rita. Alot of people have said some terriable things about my family and although I don't think that what you are saying id terriable I would like to say you are right there are alot of terriable people in this world that feed off the kindness of people and then try to destroy them. Alcoholism was not the only Demon Lawrence fought, he fought off the people who were trying to destroy him also. Alot of people don't know that he was really trying to get better and that he wanted to stay in treatment, people are basing there opinons on a 55 min show and although I am not accusing you of this I just thought I would say what I felt. Thank you!!

Unhappy Re: Lawrence Ryan

I know this is rather behind the times but I was unfamiliar with the A & E show Intervention. Randomly flipping through channels the other night I ran across the interview with Lawrence. I knew him back in the late 90's, early 00's.

To his family, I am SO sorry for your loss. I understand how his expectations of people could be consuming but I remember being over at the house many times and him bragging on all of you and how much he loved you. I hope that gives you some comfort. I remember seeing pics of his precious brother that he was SO proud of excelling in college. His wonderful mom who he loved more than anything and wanted to protect. His very much loved brother that had to go through all the things that were unpleasant in home life.

A lot of people used Lawrence because of his generosity, and I left Vegas in 2003 so I am not sure what the stealing comments entail but it doesn't surprise me as he was giving to a fault.

It was very shocking to learn that he was gone via TV, but I respect that again he was trying to help others with his demise. May he rest in peace and may he be remembered as a truly wonderful individual rather than people concentrating on his faults. He gave a lot to the community in the way of community advocacy against family violence and always put others before himself.

Re: Lawrence Ryan

I was in Vermont last week and I did also see the rerun on A&E. It broke my heart to see the downfall of such a smart guy. This should be a lesson that he left for all of us.

Re: Lawrence Ryan

I saw the Intervention show Monday night and it just broke my heart. Four days have past and I still cant seem to get Lawrence out of my mind. It is a very sad story with a not happy ending. When I saw the show I just kept telling myself he's gonna get better. At the end when we're informed he passed away, I felt the tear run down my face. I wish he were still alive. I send my condolences to his family and all the people he loved. He has truly touched my heart.

Re: Lawrence Ryan

Not a salon owner, but I just saw Mr. Ryan's heart-breaking story on Intervention. This has to be the saddest episode I have ever seen. What terrible suffering at the hands of the man that abused everyone in this family including Lawrence. It was clear that despite the intelligence and motivation to succeed this man had, and the desire to be strong and show no weakness, the pain of this abuse was still very much alive in his eyes. My condolences to his mother and his siblings. I really hope the person who caused all this pain gets his just rewards. Although I never knew Lawrence, I can really sympathize (first hand) with the death-grip hold that addiction can put on a persons life. It's very important for people to know that addiction is not a weakness though - it's an illness and for a lot of people it's treatable. When I saw the show it was my hope for him that he could somehow deal with his pain and heal from his addiction but I heard later that it was too late. Again, my deepest and most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lawrence Ryan.

With Respect,
E-town

Re: Lawrence Ryan

I currently reside in Las Vegas, NV and am not a Salon owner. I did know Lawrence during the early years of me trying to start my own business. Lawrence was one of the first people I did freelance work through a partnered company.

I must admit, he was very stubborn when it came to his business and was hard for me to chew at first. But I completely respected him for knowing what he wanted and his willingness to adapt or make changes in his salons. Everyone keeps saying he was very "focused." To me he was beyond "focused" and it multiplied by a billion. His determination in everything I helped him with was amazing and very motivating.

I will never forget the time I ran into him randomly at a local club when I first turned 21 (about 6 years ago) and he invited me to sit down with him at his table. Sitting down at his table was very intimidating but his glow somehow managed to make me feel welcomed. Not only did he make me feel welcomed, but he went above and beyond to make sure that I would be taken care of that night. The amount of generosity he showed me without knowing me very well was very unique and amazing. I can't ever thank him enough for taking care of me.

Regardless to any interpertation of and what was shown in a 55 minute show on A&E, it was a very inspiring story. Even with the sad ending it came with, he really shows that anything can be done with the discipline and will to do it. It's really sad to see what addiction can do to a person. But I will always remember Lawrence as the fun, easy going, and driven person I knew him as.

I know it's been said already, and I can't help but to repeat it: he was truly an awesome and unique person. I wish his family and friends the best. Especially his family. Although I never met you guys, he spoke very highly of you guys and really showed the amount of love he had for you guys. May he rest in peace.

I'm sorry this came late, but I couldn't help but respond to the thread after just finding out just today that he passed away.
