They are very representative of our market, so I am hoping to have them help guide my decision, too. I'm asking them to be honest as to whether they would ever pay for such a device. I'll post the results when I get them. Maybe that will be helpful to someone else, also.

Bronze make sure they calculate how much time it will take and if they will really be able to take that much time out of their busy day to do this. I sometimes got hair stylists that would do it with their tanning on Mondays since that was their day to spoil themselves. I would get some book it for saturdays and sundays but rarely during the week.

Like eileen said, you can't get the people to take the time to use the thing. I added a spa in my lower level last year with a massage bed and a infrared sauna, in addition to some more tanning beds. I spent thousands on the buildout and equipment and my ROI has been absolutely zero. |

I agree 100%.For the money you will spend on a pile of junk like that, you could buy a good used HP unit. Why do people constantly try to re-invent the wheel? If you can't make money on tanning, its time to get out of the business. The whole benefits of the "hydration" station is a scam.People who take good care of their skin will always have dark long lasting tans.People who don't won't. Hydration stations will not help Spray tan ppl if they don't follow directions on how to maintain their applications. People are the biggest variables when it comes to anything.Don't count on a product or service to counteract the ignorance in people. Choose good lamps, maintain your equipment, push quality lotions. | |

If you are a tanning salon, stay a tanning salon unless you truly believe a service can be added that will make money not just be an add-on, for that we have those messy teeth whitening kits. The prior owner here added a snack/pizza/smoothie bar. Took out four tanning rooms to do it! It did HORRIBLE. Few sales, trust me, I worked for him. He did this to "save the salon". Well since the snack bar was not doing well, what does he do? Spend $6k on a soft serve machine. Ya... ice cream.... So: Snack bar to save tanning salon Soft serve to save snack bar You see how thats going. In the end about $10k was spend, if not more when you include payroll. That $10k would have been better spend re-lamping, remodeling or at least advertising!

Plus Sybaritic does not even know how to use this system in the tanning market. This spa bed is really called the Dermalife Spa-Feng Shui . This bed works really well in med-spa's but not in tanning. While I can say I made my money back from I will be honest and say that I dont think it will work with everyone. Sybaritic slaped the hydration station name on it hoping to get a part of the tanning industry because lets face it owners in this industry waste money like none other look for the next big thing that will make them profits. Get another HP on the used market before getting this. It is the same price as a used Hydration Station, and please if you are thinking about leasing a Hydro then dont do it, I bought mine cash and I think it is the only way to go in this one.

Present it to your salon clients and see how much interest they have in it first, but then again most of them might tell you what you want to hear anyway. Find out the breakeven costs of the unit. Some rough math - $18000 (assuming $450/mo payment if you're financing it) @ $15/session = 30 sessions a month to just breakeven every month! That doesn't include the electric, cleaning supplies, labor, etc that is needed to maintain the unit. What's your current daily salon traffic now?

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Is a Hydration Station worth having? Hi Everyone. Great feedback. I think you're all making a lot of sense. I would have bought, not leased but I do like the idea of just getting another great bed. The time factor makes sense. I also agree that upselling a great lotion would most likely make a better profit and be a better service to our clients. I'm nixing the idea of the Hydration Station. This is my first tanning venture, so I am starting a new thread that I hope you can help with. I'm going to list my equipment and I would love suggestions on what else would be a great investment. Thanks to everyone for helping with the H.S.!
