US Suppliers that deliver to Canada?

I'd like to take advantage of the Canadian dollar and order some lamps from the states (where most lamps sell for much less than in Canada). Does anyone know of a good place?

I called URI already and although their lamps are a good deal the shipping quote they gave me made it not worth my while to order.

Re: US Suppliers that deliver to Canada?

thats the problem...the products are priced much better there, but the shipping companies really getcha with the shipping.

So now you know why the items here in Canada are the price they are. Even though our dollar is better, the shipping companies are the ones that are keeping the price of things higher.

Re: US Suppliers that deliver to Canada?

Something doesn't add up. Where are these lamps made? the US? Canada? Europe? Shipping lamps from Europe to the US is that much cheaper than shipping to Canada? As much as 6$ or 7$ each lamp? C'mon, someone somewhere is gouging us Canadians.

They are made in Europe, but the North American warehouse is located here in Canada. Send me a PM and I'll see if I can get you a good deal on them.

Re: US Suppliers that deliver to Canada?

I believe you'll still have to pay the 6% GST, and if the lamps aren't made in the U.S., they won't qualify under NAFTA so you'll have the other taxes for that.

Plus - if you need to utilize a broker - there will be those costs.

And your gas to get back and forth.

Not sure if it'll be worth your trouble when all is said and done.......

you pay 6% GST on everything, no matter where its made. It the Duty that you would or wouldn't pay. Tanning products range around the 6% mark on duty if made in Europe.

NATFA only works for the Duty. Your GST and (HST/PST) is always going to be there, no matter what. Thats the government for ya. Brokerage runs anywhere from $50-$150 depending on your broker, so do your shopping.

Re: US Suppliers that deliver to Canada?

UPS will **** you on the international shipping. Go Fed Ex, they are half the price and might make it more feasible to purchase from the U.S...... today the dollar is at 1.07 baby!

yes -- what I meant is make sure you are comparing apples to apples. So if the lamp price is less at URI -- did your disty already add in the GST (or PST/HST) or will that be on top either way? But since a lot of lamps are made outside the U.S. - you would need to pay duty too. Again - not sure if that would already be in the canadian disty quote, or if they break that out separately.
