Rep Power: 20 | Re: ETS According to ETS reps I talked with last year, J.K. Ergoline and ETS sell the same amount of tanning beds worldwide. I have heard that these two companies control alomost 80% of the market place worlwide. It would be rare for these two titans attempt to purchase each other. Normally anti-trust laws in the US would prevent the number one mfg. to purchase number two and gain control of 75% or more of the market place. Anti-trade laws are supposed to prevent mergers that would produce a 2/3 market share. Even more so is that European markets would make such a business buy out more difficult as Europeans really resent the monopolies that US Companies have created. Certainly all the buy-outs that have been rumoured on Tan-Talk are troubling as allowing one company to control 75% of the market would pose disaster for all of us. In Minnesota TWT Tan and PC Marketing both had stocking warehouses and included tanning lamps when we starte business five years ago. TWT tan was sold about three years agoe and we were directed to purchase all sundash lamps from the local Ergoline Distributor. PC marketing is closing their warehouse and we will no longer be able to purchase lamps from their warehouse. It appears that regardless of the vendor we purchase lamps, most come in boxes labeled Global Sun Light. We have frequently waited three to six weeks to obtain replacement tanning lamps when we have to purchase them from an ergoline distributor. I would find it dreadful to be restricted to a single vendor to purchase tanning lamps and be at their mercy not only for price but forced to wait weeks. Maybe we need to write letters to our members of Congress to complain regarding the continual consolidation of tanning vendors in the US. Good luck, PatParadise |

I dont think ETS does much buisness with thier equipment when speaking of terms "WORLDWIDE". Behind Ergoline woule be Willam Fables of Ultrasun who's selling the most equipment when speaking in terms worldwide not ETS.. | |

Poland and Russia are consuming large numbers of tanning units they are not ETS beds to my knowledge. That number you have 80% is not even realisitc. |
