Rep Power: 0 | Used equipment expectations I was wondering what are reasonable expectations when buying used equipment. Example: My friend bought 2 stand up units from a well know resale company. She paid them to store the equipment for her since her salon was taking longer than planned to open. She also paid them to crate up the units for shipment to ensure they arrived safely. The units were advertised as in perfect condition and working. She ended up receiving 2 non working units. One only has 3 sides, top and broken bottom, nothing to set it up. The other one has no blowers or timers and she had to pay $100 to have her tekie get some bolts to try to make them work. Both are still not working but they will not return her money. They also came heavily damaged since they were only wrapped in saran type wrapping. She has contacted the company and they said that their policy is no returns once purchased. They told her she got a $10,000 discount from what the beds were when they were new and she should be happy with that. The company is now not returning her calls. My theory is that she bought working, like new units (per their ad). They should come like they are advertised. You don't purchase a car that you are told is working then pick it up and it needs an engine. Any ideas? Is she crazy thinking she should have gotten working beds? Should she suck it up and call it a loss? Should she try to pursue other avenues to get her money back or to at least get them to fix the beds? She just wants working beds. |

They justify selling junk by telling you that you saved thousands of dollars over new so deal with the missing parts, broken pieces etc. We sell used equipment as well but we prefer to work local so we set up almost everything we sell. This way the salon owner doesnt pay in full until satisfied. If you are selling decent equipment the vendor shouldn't mind 50% down and 50% upon set-up. This would apply only if we did the set-up of course. Sunfactory 908-500-1443 |

She paid for the units over a few months. She even was charged to store them since her salon was being built. Since it has been over 6 months she cant even go after them via her credit card or anything. (she just recieved them in the last month though). The company will not call her back or even try to send her the parts to make the units work. I posted for her since she is stilling trying to get them to work with her. This is the exact reason I have been so hesitant to buy used beds! Royal Sun, I appreciate the way you do business! Depending on if she gets them to work with her I may be posting the name of the company to warn others of their practices! Don't want others to get screwed.;) | |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Used equipment expectations If your friend's salon is anywhere near the Northeast have her us a call for any future equipment purchases. The problem she is having is unfortunately quite prevalent. I bet I could even guess who she got her beds from. Its a crappy way to do business and gives legitimate resellers a sometimes undeserved bad rep. Good Luck with getting some satisfaction from the repo company!! |

Who is the company & let's see if there is another side to this story? A local guy here got an Orbit from a Jersey bed dealer. Was sold as clean & great condition. The unit was filthy & missing parts, the guy would never return phone calls either. I think the guy might post on this site also.
