Rep Power: 0 | 4-6 hour shower recommendation What is the reason it is best to wait 4-6 hours after tanning (especially when you're using tanning products in conjunction) before showering? Does it mostly apply to bronzers so that the DHA or even the DHA free ingredients have time to work their magic? |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: 4-6 hour shower recommendation I thought there was a one hour rule ... to wait just an hour before you shower? I usually tan when I get off which is late afternoon/early evening and I will wait and shower the next morning. But I have always told the customers that they should wait at least an hour before showering.

Rep Power: 28 | Re: 4-6 hour shower recommendation This is my theory and mine alone, so don't take it as the absolute rule ;) My clients ask all the time if they should wait to shower. My response is: If you are using a dha bronzer let it do it's job for a couple of hours. If you are not using a bronzer it really doesn't matter but.... Why wash that nutrient lotion off your skin so fast? Let it soak in for a bit to keep your skin in good condition. Once you take your shower use a good tan extender while the skin is still damp to further moisturize. |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: 4-6 hour shower recommendation I THOUGHT THERE WAS A ONE HOUR RULE????? Based on what? See, silly jingles are fun but have nothing to do with reality. The first thing you need to know is what is tanning lotion. Long story short, Tanning lotion is basically vitamin supplement for the skin in topical form. If you wash it off, it's not really going to work is it. NOW, 4 hours later the lotion might already be done absorbing so if you do take a shower just reapply the lotion or aftertan lotion. After tan lotion is basically thinned tanning lotion. A "mild" supplement with ingredients that are meant to absorb more slowly. Tanning lotion is faster absorbing cause you are going into the tanning bed and it needs to work now. NOW for lotions with DHA that's easy. Shower BEFORE tanning. Showering after will wash some of it off and spotty city here we come. Tingle will "reactivate" if you try to wash it off but that makes no sense. Tingle is meant for immediate results. If anything you reapply to get the effect again. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: 4-6 hour shower recommendation Well at some of the seminars that I went to most say wait at least an hour to let your skin cool off, if you shower you cool the skin down too fast and the melanin doesn't have time to reach the surface. Something about the heat combined with the exposure to the rays work together to produce the melanin. This for me has been the rule always. I have so many people say I don't feel that I'm getting anything and I'll ask are you showering right after tanning and they usually say yes, I tell them and usually they can really see a difference waiting a little while. |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: 4-6 hour shower recommendation They make up anything at these things. HEAT has really nothing to do with it. This is why I DON'T go to these STUPID seminars. Too many MARKETING tactics with no science backing...kinda like the dermatologists. |
