Rep Power: 0 | My mom has a precancerous skin lesion on her face My mom has been tanning fairly consistently for the past three years, and about three months ago noticed a spot on her face. She assumed it was an age spot, but when I returned from college in May I told her to get it checked ou as I worked at a salon for a year and half and thought the spot looked a bit odd. Anyway, she met with a dermatologist and they took a biopsy. She found out yesterday that it's a precancerous skin lesion. The doctor isn't too worried and she has another appointment in August to check up on it. She's decided to stop tanning, and as an avid tanner myself, I'm trying to decide if I should give it up as well. I worked in a salon for over a year and have been tanning consistenly for the past two years and to top it off, I'm moving back to school this weekend and have an interview with a salon. Now I'm just worried that if I get the job will they question why I don't tan often or at all? I've never spray tanned and after reading all the threads about mystic last night I think I'm gonna give it a shot and see how it works for me. I already have a good tan, so I figure it would be best to try it now instead of waiting until I became white again. I'm not really sure what the point of this was -- I guess just to get other's opinions? Has anyone else experienced a precancerous skin lesion? -- Nichole |

She would layout on the top of black tar roofs to get more sun for hours. She still tans now but only twice a month for about the last 5 years. She hasn't mentioned any new lesions or anything but still sees a derm. So basically she has switched to moderate tanning. She's 49 yrs old now. I myself tan once a week and keep good color.....I never try to be the darkest tanner, that's not really that attractive IMO. |
