Uneven Tanning

I have been tanning for 4 sessions now and I am noticing that I am not tanning on the sides of my body and the top of my body. The little bit of tanning that I notice is my middle back and my stomach. And they are red. Why am I tanning or burning only in those places? So it's kinda like a stripe effect going on. What can I do to not burn and get an somewhat even tan?

Re: Uneven Tanning

Have you asked your Professional at your salon what the issue might be?
What is your skin type?

Striping usually occurs from over-exposing.

It is hard to acertain without more information, but it sounds like your are taking it a little too fast and over-exposing. That being said, you might try tanning in a different bed as maybe the lamp emmissions are uneven. Tanning in a different unit might even your color up a bit.

Re: Uneven Tanning

I think that might be it. I have been tanning back to back. i went three days last week all in a row. I am half asian so I have somewhat of a tan. They have also put me starting at 10 minutes each session. And today I did 12. Maybe I started off with too many minutes?

Re: Uneven Tanning

Wait a few days and start using their stand-up unit, 6-8 minute sessions every other day for 3-4 sessions, then 8-12 minute sessions every 3-5 days for maintenance. Also make sure you are using a quality tanning product during your tanning sessions, and moisturize your skin daily.

Re: Uneven Tanning

I'm using Raspberry Tini by fiesta sun. So I should lower my time and go every other day? But I don't understand why I'm burning. I usually tan very easy and never burn.

Re: Uneven Tanning

Sounds like you're using the 20 minute base beds at the salon. Your back side is closer to the bottom lamps than your front side is to the top. Base beds use lamps with higher UV B output, ergo your sensitive skin is burning more easily than it would with shorter sessions in the stand-up unit which should have higher wattage lamps and lower UV B output. As for the lotion, I have no idea whether it is any good or not. Was it $20 - $30? If so, you could find better products to use.

Re: Uneven Tanning

Yea it was about that much. I already bought a unlimited month of just the regular bed. I would have to pay additional for the stand-up bed. i am just trying to get a decent tan for my brothers wedding in three weeks. What can I do to get that? The guy who owns the salon said that they are 15 min. beds and that they are new. How long should I go for in those beds?

Re: Uneven Tanning

Find a salon with a Suncapsule in it or any standup with 160 watt lamps or above, limit your session time to half of the maximum exposure and go every other day. You should be fine.
