Re: how much ac to you need

You need at least 10 tons. Preferably 15 tons.

Re: how much ac to you need

1 ton for base beds, 1-2 for VHR, 3 for HP per room, don't forget cooling your lobby. If you know your equipment mix you'll be able to figure it out.
I have 10 tons for 1200 sq ft.

Re: how much ac to you need

you need to have 1 ton for every 400 sq ft of space. That does not include the added AC you will need for your tanning untis. So your looking at 6 tons just to keep the space cool and you haven't even put a tanning bed in yet.

Re: how much ac to you need

In all salons that I have desiged and layout, I have used 1/2 ton per regular bed 35 lamp and below and 1 ton for larger units 160 watt above and verticals. This has worked out excellent with no issues. I was just told this by a tanning expert about 10 years ago and it has worked great. Normally you heating and cooling guy doesn't have a clue as to how much AC you need. You will also need to cover your square footage of the salon. Don't skimp, as it will cost you in the long run to add on.

Re: how much ac to you need

Where in the country are you located?

What direction do your windows face?

What type of tanning equip will you have (it's going to be a squeeze to put 20 units in 2500 s.f., especially since on another thread I saw you mentioning an Ergo 800 and other bigger beds)? Levels/wattage as well as brand, as some run much hotter than others.

Do you have swamp coolers or anything like that?

Are the beds vented?

Drop ceiling or open?

In general, as mentioned:

1 ton per 400 s.f. - just ambient cooling (e.g. for your lobby, halls,...)

1/2 ton per basic base bed.

3/4 - 1.5 per larger beds

3 for HP

But the above questions can make some differences too. E.g. a salon that faces SW with a big wall of windows will be MUCH hotter than a salon that faces NE - even with no beds turned on!

Bottom line - No, 8 won't be nearly enough.

Re: how much ac to you need

8 tons will be a joke in that space. You want somewhere between 16-24 Tons of AC. Any less, and its gonna be BRUTALLY hot in there. Seriously, too many salons DONT have enough AC, and its just ridiculous.
