Rep Power: 19 | Re: does this salon investment sound good Let us examine this now shall we?? Currently they are running low on cash on hand to open their doors sorta speak. So they are looking for a partner? So you invest your money into this place which is under funded to begin with? Well after you do that you still have no cash on hand because it was under funded to begin with because they needed you. So now they will need additional partners once open. Why because you are under funded. Let’s take a look here shall we? 10k covers 2,400 lease on space 2,000 lease on beds 1,000 interest on my brothers loans 600 utilities and maint. 4,000 salary for sister in law to manage and run place 2,400 lease on place you know this not us so that is that. 2,000 lease on beds you know this so that is that. 1,000 you know this so that is that 600 Utilities and Maint REALLY?? In who’s WORLD? Reality or yours? Advertising Electric Gas Insurance Repairs you may need each month your door falls off needs to be fixed your ok on equipment you hopefully have a warranty. Lamps (you do plan on changing your lamps to your beds?) Cleaning solution for beds Other items such as pens, paper, ink for printer, cleaning supplies. Ahhh this totals more then 600 per month sweetie. 4,000 Salary for sister in law to manage? Um ok.. So your sister in law will work 7 days and run the salon herself? She never gets sick ever and you will have no help at all? This plan is under funded to begin with and has not been thought out or planned properly this is nothing more then a recipe for FAILURE!!!! Rep Power: 28 | Re: does this salon investment sound good Your sister-in-law should cut her salary in (at least) "1/2" or take nothing at all. I didn't take bubkis the first 2 years (and still get paid peanuts but I take advantage of the perks a person gets for owning their own business)-- pure slave labor and sweat equity. here are things you WILL be paying and should have budgeted for in your business plan. TTL cost of labor (ours totaled a little over $3000.00 in jan.) Advertising Mgmt Fee rent Rpr Maint Bldg. Rpr Maint Equip. Taxes Other / Taxes payroll Elec: Phone & cell phone: Office Supplies: Shop Supplies: internet/cable: Cost of Products For Sale: lease payments/interest Insurance Auto Expense I was looking at this in QB's and realized -- during January we spent $6000.00 dollars on Cost of Products for Sale -- IE: LOTION. We made some huge purchases and helped some distributors make their quota's in January but there are still certain products I won't have to order for awhile. It was roughly $19,000.00 to operate our salon in January and we came no where close to generating revenue near the 20k mark. The huge lotion purchase used up a large portion of savings from season -- so here I am -- running the hamster treadmill again... 25% of NOTHING is Nothing -- ONLY invest if you FREELY and Willingly "GIVE" monies to this project -- don't ask for pay back, interest or have expections of ever seeing any return on your investment -- much less profit in less than 3 years or (imo) you can say goodbye to warm and fuzzy holiday dinners with the family. There are better and safer places to get R.O.I. -- try a high yeild savings account -- Invest 25k at 5+% and GIVE them the 1300.00 you earn @ that rate to pay on that lease every month. They are gonna need more money than you can imagine or perhaps provide -- good luck to you & them.

Rep Power: 22 | Re: does this salon investment sound good If you are friends with your brother and sister-in-law now, and you give them $60,000, you won't be on speaking terms very long. A $48,000 annual salary to run a salon is assinine. Total greed. Are they doing you a favor by letting you invest in their salon. As a 25% owner, you will have no input on how to run the place and your donation will get you no return. Can you see the writing on the wall? |
